I have CCleaner done that before I try the new password, cookie setting med/high,talked with my dsl server yesterday everything ok with them, after talking with the webpage info they told me to make a list of the books I want and they will take the order over the phone its just I would like to know what went wrong at their end and they cannot tell me.

Sue, an e-mail account password cannot be arbitrarily changed with Thunderbird. Thunderbird is not in control of the password, the server controls it. Thunderbird simply sends the password to the server that's already configured there, to signal to the server that "hey, this is legitimately Sue (because she has the correct password) who wants to open her mailbox." If you wish to change an e-mail password (for Gmail, Yahoo, your local ISP, whatever mail service may be involved), the change must first be done at the service provider. Then you enter that new password into Thunderbird when prompted for it. Thunderbird configuration does not provide a direct entry field for the password. Some e-mail programs do, Thunderbird does not. It will prompt for the password when needed. There's a checkbox on the password entry dialog Use Password Manager to remember this password. Enabling that option will make Thunderbird retain the password in its internal settings from that point on and thus not need to ask for it again ... unless the password is changed on the server which causes what Thunderbird has saved to be wrong. If the "remember password" option is not enabled, then Thunderbird won't save it and will prompt for the password each time mail is checked for the first time during a new session. There may be passwords involved for both receiving and sending mail. Usually it's the same password both but in some instance they can be different.

Sorry for the delay in responding...Christmas prep got in the way. I do appreciate the responses. Owbist, I did not do a "clean up" don't really know how other than delete temp files and de-frag which I have not done lately. I delete temp files pretty regularly just don't have a set schedule to do it. Perhaps I should? kudzu9, I didn't do anything to the cookies until the log-in's changed. Then I don't remember what I did, but have since changed the tools/options/security to "remember passwords" and still have the problem. I also have the cookies setting on the control panel internet options set for medium. I am sorry I can't be specific about what I did, I just don't remember. I have tried so many things to fix the problem that I am now considering doing a system restore and see if that works. I thought someone would have a suggestion of what to change where to get the automatic log-ins to work again. Again I appreciate the help. Murphy

If you prefer IE then use it, Microsoft issued the update to fix it a couple of days ago so make sure you have that update on your computer and go back to IE. The latest version of Firefox has major changes which could be some of the problem. When I run into the login problem here at gw I clear the cache on the browser, then do the login on the actual main page of gw not one of the forums, it does seem to make a difference. To get to the main page go to the top of the KT to the top left corner where the green house is click there use the login on the page it opens to. There's a thread here about the update with information and the link. Check your Windows updates to make sure that you got it.
