It depends on the program you use to "burn" the disks, not the type of disk, as far as I know. I have CDs to which I have burned pictures of my flowers, but I have never done just a few at a time, so I don't know if I can add more later or not. I do not even recall the program I used, so no help there. Sorry.

Picasa has a button that says Burn so I was assuming that is what I needed to use. It tells me to install a cd or dvd in the E drive. I practiced with a cd-r and the pictures went on there but I can't add to it? I am really confused and hope someone can help me out.

Probably not. I don't use Picasa but I doubt it has an option to burn/continue a "multi-session" disc.

If you have a separate burning program that allows it, you can try it to see if it works for you. I've never really used it and don't remember why.

If you use an "RW" disk you can erase the disc and burn it again. You have to burn everything though, old photos as well as new.

I gave up on rewritable discs a long time ago because, at least at that time, they didn't seem to be very reliable. Maybe they are now, I don't know.

Personally, I'd probably pick up a USB flash-drive or two(for duplication). Quicker, easier and probably more reliable.

I'm no expert though.

What I want to do is to make a copy of all my pictures in Picasa so that I don't lose my pictures in case I get a virus or a new computer. I would like to be able to save my pictures. I lost them once due to a virus and don't want that to happen again. I thought if I could put them on a cd or dvd that I could save them and put them back in my computer should I need to.

Then chuggerguy's suggestion of putting them on a USB flash drive would do exactly what you want. You will save them on it, and when you wish to put back on the computer or on a new computer, all you do is plug it in and copy to the computer wherever you want to keep your pictures. And you still have them on the flash drive as a backup.

I don't use Picasa but perhaps this will put you on the right trail.

Hopefully that link will show you how to see which folders Picasa is monitoring and that will lead you to the physical folder on your hard drive. My guess is that they're somewhere inside your "My Pictures" folder? "Will the pictures that I put on the flash drive still be in Picasa to view and use (print)?"

Yes, the originals will still be in Picasa to use just like always. But you'll have backup copies on your Flash-Drive just in case your hard-drive dies or whatever.
