Can I speed this up-

When I go to MSN News (or other sites) I get the little circle going around while the connection goes on,BUT it keeps stopping etc and I have to wait until more information is released. Is there any way to speed the download, so the little dot won't stop and start stop and start and disrupt the message.?

marie, can you add a bit more information please. What kind of internet connection do you have and what is the advertised speed?

Also, what browser are you using. Have you tried using a different one, does it seem to work the same or better/worse?

I have Wi-Fi thru my phone company an using Fox Fire most of the time Where would fid advertised speed?

Adding enough Nitrogen to those wood chips to get a Carbon to Nitrogen ratio of 30 to 1 is what is needed. Roughly, wood chips are about 400:1 by themselves so you need a Nitrogen source that will drop that to the 30:1 ratio. I would save my compost to be used in my garden rather then to try and compost these wood chips. The sand/gypsum mixture will do little to aid the digestion of the wood chips, no nutrients to feed the bacteria that will digest the wood chips.

Orange, unless you choose to grow the way Steve is trying to help you out with, then I would go with Dave's advice...It's spot on.. Steve, I have to politely disagree. LIGHT is not EVERYTHING but is very critical factor and more so in your case at this time. Without your aeration methods, your plants would decline quite rapidly in the mixes you are using. It is the mixes we use, fertilizer we apply, light, watering habits, temps, bug sprays and the care that we put our plants through, the environment we provide that is 'everything'.. If I were to name one critical factor to start off with that is at the beginning of everything, then I would start with a good mix, then follow with good cultural practices.. I can tell you that every nursery owner that wants to see their plants thrive despite the ability to provide all the light they can get, invest thousands of dollars on the perfect mix for their plants, then sell it quite expensively.. I have seen some of the nicest plants quickly degenerate in poor mixes used in pots, despite all the sunlight provided. Yes, did you know that one can kill their planted trees in the ground with poor drainage, even if provided lots of sunlight? We have seen this demonstrated here? Therefore that is where people like John, Patty, Rhizo and many others come in to help out..If 'light' was everything, then growing citrus would be a piece of cake, a walk in the clouds, right? Since a couple of months have gone by, you should be able to plant your zinnias in-ground now. Plant them about a quarter to half an inch deep and sprinkle the seed bed until they come up, which should be in a week or less. You need to figure out why all of your seedlings died. I lost a lot of indoor zinnia seedlings this year to thrips, a little insect almost too small to see with the naked eye. Their populations can explode indoors without natural enemies. If you have pictures of your dying seedlings, or can describe the event in more detail, we might be able to figure out what the problem was. So that next year you can avoid the problem. The advertised speed is what the phone company sold you ...for instance you purchased 1.5 MBPS for $60.00 per month.

They always say "up to xxx Mbs" and seldom let you pin them down. The absolute slowest DSL speed I have had since graduating from actual analog line modems has been from a phone company. Qwest (and subsequently Century Link) supplied less than ONE Mbps and called it "high speed".

Suggestion: Google "internet speed test" and get ahold of Ookla. Run it and report the results here. Ignore what the big boys swear you have.

If you delete your cookies daily or have your browser set to delete all history on closing, each time you return to a website the cookies have to reload. This could be causing the delay.

Some sites have numerous cookies and some by their nature can be larger than others, particularly for graphic laden sites. I have two financial institutions that following my weekly maintenance it takes a long time for them to reload the first visit after the clean up.

You might consider:

Firefox has an add-on called Broadband Speed Test and Diagnostics 1.2.5. The couple of times I matched it against on-line offerings they were pretty close.

When is the last time you defragged your system, Marie? This simple act might help considerably. It's worth a try.

Go to Control Panel>Performance Information & Tools>Advanced Tools>Open Disk Defragmenter>Defragment Disk>System C:

Auto-play video ads seem to significantly interfere w/ loading of big sites like MSN.com, etc. as well.

Also check if your router is being blocked by furniture or something else - we had that problem w/ ours.
