Outlook mail auto-open

I had hotmail with my Firefox but they changed it to Outlook Mail. Now, when I go to open mail, when I delete one the next doesn't automatically open, I have to double click it. Yes, not a big deal, but for being used to it automatically opening this is annoying and I want it to be like it used to be.

How do I get Outlook mail to auto-open the next email?

Looks to be a setting on Hotmail/outlook online mail...

that can lead to you auto opening a malicious email which is why it is no longer the default and you might want to leave it that way so you don't end up with another malware problem.

No - I checked that. I have googled and found a few instances of this problem - and they all seem to relate to IE8. No real solutions, though some have seemed to correct it. I guess I can save the attachement and just open it from my desktop. Thanks for your input RC.

Sorry, I typoed..it should have read 'custom' links.Commands (like Import & Export) can't be added to the standard tabs, you have to create a custom tab first. Here's how: Open File, Then click Options. Choose 'Customize Ribbon' On the right side at the bottom click "New Tab". Right click on the new tab and name it whatever you like. Now look to the left side to the 'Choose Commands From' dialog box. Click the down pointing arrow and choose ' Commands Not in the Ribbon' find Import & Export and click the Add button to move it over to your newly created tab. About your missing mail, did you have an earlier version of Outlook installed and functional before you installed 2010? If I am reading and interpreting correctly, your mail was fine after the upgrade..then it just disappeared? If that is correct, I would look through all of the folders to verify that a folder did not accidentally get moved.

Who reloaded your replacement hard drive? I would go back to that person with this problem since it seems that something was omitted that should have been included.

Mike, thank you for the inputs. Unfortuntely, the indexing still does not work. When I double clicked Index Options, the new window showed "Indexing is not running". The "modify" botton was inactive. Only the "Advanced" botton was active. When clicked on it, it asked for permission to run "Advance Index Option". I clicked OK. Then I got another window, the only active choice was "restore defaults", then a message apeared saying " delete index...next time when your computer restarts it complete rebuild locations using complete index default settings. This might take a long time". I followed the instructions, restarted the computer, it still showed "indexing is not running", Outlook still refused to search. What should I do now?

Thanks. Raven, I always use Mailwasher and weed out bad emails before going to my mail program to read the emails, so there is no chance of opening a malicious email, they are already gone.

Mikie, please walk me through this like a kid because I can't figure out where the settings for this are. Thanks!
