can't leave my sister without antivirus protection

MSE has turned itself off on her laptop which runs XP. I have the same problem with mine at home. She's had major internet connection problems with her server and this morning is the first I've been able to address the MSE problem. Unfortunately, I have to leave for home today but hope to leave with her pc protected. She doesn't use it, but her daughters do when they occasionally visit.

I've not found a way to get MSE to run. Do I need to uninstall it before installing another antivirus program since it is turned off? MSE is not listed in Add/Remove Programs in Control P. It doesn't show with Revo Uninstaller, either...

I've used AVG, Avira, and Avast in the past on her pc. Use one of these or another? Thanks for your help! :)

Think you posted this on the "Off topic Conversations" side by mistake. Very little traffic here. Post on Discussions side.

Abreeze, I see you 'found' the On Topic Discussion side of the forum and posted the info there, as well as mentioning that you thought your post had disappeared.

Here is a link that might be useful: Your new Saturday post.
