I think I posted pictures before of our neighborly pheasant. He spends his days visiting the neighbors and entertaining them
He wasn't too entertaining today. I was trying to mow the lawn and he kept running in front of the mower so I had to slow down.
If anyone is outside working, especially if they are running a noisy tool he will be Johnny on the spot!!!

He sure doesn't show much fear being that close to a running mower!

He isn't afraid of anything. He even chased a car the other day. Guess he thinks he is invincible!!!

Wow Judy,

He is really pretty. You told us that he chases cars and runs in front of lawn mowers and he entertains the neighbors. You didn't say what kind of entertainment. Does he dance? If he does he might win one of those dancing contests on TV. "LOL"

RE: pheasant

He just likes to be around where there is some action. If you start up the mower or a chain saw or just sit outside talking he will usually apppear. And the funny thing is he prefers red!!! Our neighbor has 2 mowers but he only chases the red one. Ours is red too. Another neighbor was outside working and was wearing a red shirt and he follwed Kevin around. He took his shirt off and the pheasant left!!!

A pheasant with a color preference? Did you do a search on Pheasants to see if they have color preferences? I read that some birds do prefer certain colors, so I was wondering if you had checked that out. We know this one prefers red but do they all prefer red? Just curious. "Smiles"

Hi stranger. Nope I haven't checked about them liking certain colors. He has been missing for a few days but my neighbor heard him calling yesterday. He has gotten to be a real pest and aggressive. He chases me every time I mow the lawn, running back and forth in front of the mower and the last time he would jump at the tires. He's been following me in the garage and jumping at me too. He sure has been the talk of the neighborhood!!! haha

RE: pheasant

Hi Judy,

Sorry to be such a stranger, I have been really busy with grandchildren and trying to sell my mothers home. Then a friend and I sang at my brother in laws funeral. I played my guitar a lot so that I could get my callous's back and then we also had to practise the two songs that we were going to sing at the service on the military base.

Looks like I am going to be busy again since my twin sister is coming up for our birthday and staying 10 days. She needs to get out of that house. My friend and I thought we would take her to St. Charles and look around at the shops near the park and then have lunch there too. I am still thinking of other activities to do too.

So if I disappear again for a while then you will know why. I am playing hide and seek. "LOL"

Maybe you should find the pheasant a girl friend. "Smiles"
Another idea might be to find a red ball and teach him how to play fetch. Ha! I wonder what he would do? Maybe you could tie something red around a tree for him to play with. Those are just a few ideas that might entertain him and keep him away from you and your neighbors. Ha!

Our pheasant has moved away. We can hear him down the road calling for something. But he hasn't been near any of us in several days. Noone has seen another pheasant so who knows what he is doing but when I mowed the lawn 2 days ago it was the first time this year I did it without him running in front of and beside me. Sure seemed good not to have to dodge him. haha

RE: pheasant

I learned tonight that our pheasant was deliberately hit by a car. He has been down by our neighbors and they saw a car slow down, back up and then swerve to the opposite side of the road where the pheasant was. Kevin went right up but the car had taken off with the pheasant. Nothing left but a lot of feathers. We were surprised he lasted this long and I wouldn't have felt so bad if he had been killed in a different way but for someone to purposely hit him is so wrong.
He was a lot of enjoyment to all our neighbors for many months.
