I had to laugh at Marda's comments about left-overs. I think she cooked more per capita than I did, but I still wonder what was I thinking? I had planned for six, as I didn't expect my grandchildren to be here.....but my now-sixteen yo Grandson is an official driver now, so even though they spent the early meal with their other Grandparents, they surprised me and spent the supper meal with us. So, I had eight. I roasted TWO turkeys. LOL. The first one is gone as I packed what little was left with the kids, and the second one is wrapped in foil, still pristine and in all its glory. The fridge is jammed packed with left-overs, and I ran out of room. I had a sea of gravy, and I looked at the temps and figured that the kettle of it would be just fine on the front seat of my jeep with the windows rolled up to keep the racoons out. The only glitch in the situation is that my husband doesn't really like turkey. I have quite a few plastic freezer containers, and I think I'll slice the turkey down and pack up a gazillion containers with turkey and gravy for open-faced sandwiches for the next year. LOL. I thought about Janis because I almost had a disaster. I had one pie shell filled with the pumpkin and remembered I hadn't added sugar to it. I had to pour it out and add sugar and pour it back in. Whew. It isn't the first time I've done that, and I know from experience, it's nasty that way.

With the exception of Vikki's card which came ages ago, all the cards were in today's mail. What a treat! They make a cheerful addition to the card display and my DB will surely have something to say about the new magnets on the fridge. The stickers were immediately useful with some last minute cards I wrote tonight and the sparkly ornament was a very nice thought. Thanks ladies for your generosity and thoughtfulness - and for the delicious looking recipe too! Merry Christmas! Shallon

Dotmom.. For a little background, That turkeys name was TOM E. TURKEY and he was my pet from when he was 8 days old until he died at 4-1/2 yrs old. He really was a nuisance because whenever I happened to be working on something outdoors he would come over and literally brush against my leg like a cat does until I would rub the top of his head. (he would not let anyone else touch him). My friends and family used to laugh at me because first thing every morning I would sit on the back steps and sip a coffee and I would call out "here Gimpy, here Tommy" and both Tom E. Turkey and my pet little white hen, named Gimpy" would come running to me. (I called the hen Gimpy, because she had a club foot and as a little peep she could not get around well and the other peeps would always push her away from the food, so I started lifting her up and feeding her from my hand.) Sad to say, Tommy was finally killed by a pack of stray dogs, but when he died he weighed 62 lbs.
