I just finished making my first 3 pages!!! I'm so proud of me, they turned out so good. I used my scrapbook program, but a package of HP Bright White Inkjet paper (it's acid free) and printed off some background pages that I added a few graphics to with the grabber. Then I printed off some frames and graphics on another sheet and cut them out and glued and sticky taped together. The cutting is the toughest part, you need small sharp scissors, but the end result is terrific! I guess it would be easier to go out and buy everything (paper, frames etc...) but this program will pay for itself in the long run, and I can print off pages of graphics and cut them out while I'm watching tv. Oh my goodness! First of all let me explain that this hobby is ADDICTIVE!!!!! Second let me say that it's TONS OF FUN! I would suggest going to some classes if they are available in your area first, but if not go easy on the supplies at first as it will not take long before you have a house full! I would suggest getitng several photos together with a common them, ie Birthday, Boating, Vacation, etc. with at least 3 good photos per theme, then buy the stickers and paper for just those photos at first to see if indeed you like doing this. You will need at least the following supplies: Acid free paper, glue, scissors, one multi shaped template for cutting photos mats, and stickers to match the theme of the photos you are going to be doing first. You can buy single sheets of paper at Micheal's, and at most scrapbook stores. DO NOT LIMIT YOURSELF TO ONE COMPANY! There are a few suppliers who will try and tell you that their product is SAFER, BETTER ,etc, this is just not true, acid free is acid free, PERIOD! So don't get trapped into the more expensive products, this craft is expensive enough already. You will need page protectors for the size of paper you buy, which is either the larger 12 x 12 or the smaller 8.5 x 11. Either is fine it is just a personal preference which you do. Make sure you get a GOOD idea book and READ it BEFORE you cut your first photo, make sure you have double prints or at least the negatives of photos you start out with because you will get better at this craft over time and you don't want to start with Grandmas pictures! I've attached a link to an article I found for getting started. I got started after being invited to a scrapbook party for a chain supplier. I made up two pages there, but the lady wouldn't sell me the full size paper without going to more of her parties so I didn't buy her scrapbooks. (They are nice, but very expensive.) I found out that I could buy basic templates, paper, scissors, etc. at Wal-Mart. I pretty much did my own thing for a while, but I look for ideas now and you can buy idea books. Do a web search, there are several on-line places that sell supplies. I get most of mine from a local scrapbook store. I did try out the twopeasinabucket site recently. It had more variety than I have locally, but they were out of a lot of the paper colors that I wanted. As far as a basic scrapbook, I've migrated to a scrapbook comparable to a 3 ring binder. I use the acid free protector sheets to store my pages. This works well for me because my two year likes to look at the pages and touch things. I try to include things in my books that are acid free lignin free, but there are exceptions. For the baby books, I have pregnancy tests, hospital bills, hospital wrist bands, locks of hair, etc. The locks of hair are in little clear envelopes that are made just for scrapbooking. I could work around the acid, lignin content of the other things by photocopying it or taking pictures, but I want originals. Check out the article and have fun.
