I can see everyone's point about the glass at waist or boob height - but in my opinion, this doesn't speak vintage to me. One way to get around this, perhaps, is to stick with a glass enclosure and really focus on the tile and fixtures to acheive the vintage look you want. More cost effective than your original idea - and the tile and fixtures will be the stars, if you will. Your first shower post, with the paned glass, would not lend itself, again IMHO, to a true vintage tile arrangement - it may be a tad too busy. But that's just how I see it. I love this look - while the doors are sleek - the tile is front and center - and I love how the floor goes right into the shower.

The problem, as I see it, is that reunions can be a pretty pricey fee, and people who use to all live in the same place are now coming in from all over. I've done fundraisers where we might have one or two "But I paids!", but they're local and since the costs are low, we can just comp them on their word and straighten it out later. Here's an idea: Get a free email account from Gmail or Yahoo in the name of the reunion. When you receive a payment, enter it in your spread sheet, and send a confirmation e-mail to the payer, including names of attendees (or "2 guests" if you don't know) and amount paid. If they don't have e-mail, send it to the Reunion's e-mail (i.e., self) with the payers name on the subject line and mail a printout of it by post. For last minute payments, do the same thing but keep the printouts and hand them to the people as they arrive. If you save a couple of template e-mails, you can just plug in the names, amounts and e-mail address and send it off, so it shouldn't take any more work than mailing a paper ticket would. On the invitation, tell people that their confirmation e-mail is their ticket/proof of payment. This way you have a double check that can't be accidentally written over for what came in, you can look up if you sent the e-mail, and they can show you a print out, or the e-mail on their phone. That said, one of the emotionally worst things I've ever had to do was stand at the door of a paid event with a caterer, where the caterer demanded an exact headcount, and tell someone who was a member of the organization, but who hadn't paid, that she couldn't come in. So that's another piece of advice: Plan a few extra meals, etc., so you can comp someone rather than turn them away hungry.

I would need to see a better close up of the rug that is staying, but to give you an idea of updates that would help. Paint in the lighter blue color, or the ivory, cabinets, walls and ceiling. You can leave the center ones darker, and if that blue matches the one in the rug, then that works. For the backs of the cabinets, put a nice ivory/light blue damask wallpaper that matches the cabinet paint color and ivory in the room and rugs. Replace the mirror with one like pictured below. Update all the pulls with crystal ones like pictured here. Update the lamp to a crystal one, and replace the fan with a crystal chandlier.
