I need some help with this pleeeze...

There's a factory in town & the girls are interested in seeing some of my crafts. I need to make some sort of little magazine; not really a brochure, but something I can show pics of my lighthouses, cards, etc. It would also make a good memory portfolio. I really don't know how to go about it. My scanner is not working at present, but I have my pics on a CD, so I can just download & print. I also have a digital camera to take other pics if I want. I would like to download a nice background from the internet to make it look nice. Does anyone have any experience with this or ideas? TIA.

Hi Taunia,

What software do you have? Anything with templates in it?

MS-Publisher has lots of templates for just about everything, catalogs, brochures, etc. Not that I care for the designs they use particularly, but it would give you ideas for layout.

When you close your eyes and see this in your mind, all polished and looking spiffy, what exactly does it look like? A single sheet? Double sided? Folded? A booklet? Several pages stapled together? How many items will be in this? Do you want something you can hand out or are you going to give a presentation? (Can you tell I work in a copy shop? LOL)

This can be as simple and quick or as elaborate and detailed as you want to make it. I like the idea of a memory portfolio, like a master catalog of your work. Then you could pull layouts of certain items from that when you need a brochure or handout and most of the work is done. How about one good pic of, say, one card, then a group pic of several cards, maybe fanned out, just to show the variety you can do. With a little blurb about styles and sizes, or whatever is appropriate.

Yes, let us know what program(s) you may have.
I did a little booklet for a friend, for her dog's first birthday party...LOL!
Used cardstock, and printed out pix from my camera that I had taken. I also stamped and embossed the background of each page.
You may also consider a small photo album that you could slip a sample of each card into....
Just some thoughts...
If you like, email me and I'll send you pix of the lil' book I did....sorry I didn't keep a copy of your email address :-)

Don't know if this would suit your needs, Taunia, but I picked up a brochure once that I really liked the look of...
It's kind of a little portfolio. The outside is a lightweight cardstock, regular 8.5 x 11" size. Turned "portrait"-wise, with the bottom folded up 2.25" to form a pocket across the bottom. (The outer edges are glued.) Then it's folded in half.
In each pocket are 5 slips of regular paper --in alternating colors and varying sizes. The shortest is 6" and the tallest 8.5".
Not sure that's a very good description. If you're interested, let me know and I'll send you a picture!
Best wishes!
