actually with the brand new adblock plus they are saying not to use filterset g instead when you set it up subscribe to Easylist filters that will take care of it. Filterset g used to be the best but he is not upkeeping it anymore so the author of adblock plus is now suggesting instead the Easylist. Here is some info and for those that do have filterset g you might want to read that he suggest you remove it. Do I need to install Filterset.G you can go to Tools, add-ons then in your list click on adblock plus and hit preferences to add a subscription to easylist filters. Avast is always active which is what a good AV should do so it is always basically scanning, in that sense doing scans is redundant which is not always a bad thing. You may not know this but with Avast you can set the screen saver to do scans, that is a great feature, the lazy way to do it LOL. To set that up you got to your screen saver settings ( right click on desktop, preferences, screensaver) in the list of screen savers select Avast antivirus, click on configurations to choose other options and the screen saver itself, the one that will be loaded. To keep from scanning over and over when you set avast as screen saver, click settings box, make sure the loop scanning box is not checked- that way it won't immediately start scanning again when done. Once the screen saver is running you see a blue rectangular info box on screen which shows the file names and numbers of files being scanned, this blue box will periodically move around the screen. You can manually start the scan by using the preview option on the screen saver tab of desktop properties. when you move the mouse or anything that would stop the screensaver it will stop scanning but will resume near that same spot in the list when the screen saver starts again.

Happy new year! I would normally have replied much sooner, but everything has been so busy with Christmas, then new year and all the rest. Anyway, I have to agree that conservation is by far the best thing we can do right now, and I believe that it will allways be useful as almost all energy comes with a penalty. Both environmental and financial. I've been thinking about conservation quite a bit recently as I'm trying to get a rough idea how much it would cost to build an affordable house (you might have seen my posts about it?) and I want it to be economical to live in. This is partly an environmental concern, but also because it would be misguided to build an affordable house that isn't also affordable to live in. The majority of most anyone's wages go towards their house, so if I can build a house that uses minimal energy I can spend the money in other more enjoyable ways. I can also design it in such a way it comes in to the lowest possible tax category, but that's beyond the scope of this forum. One of the things that surprises me is when I say I want to build a low energy house that uses renewable energy, people tend to picture something very expensive and custom built. When I researched it I found that commonly they're high end houses built for wealthy customers who were willing to spend a lot of money to have luxury items, like solar PV panels and houses built half underground. I don't however see why houses that use very little energy have to be reserved for wealthy people building custom houses, after all one of the main attractions of a low energy house is the very small monthly bills. A low energy house design/concept that comes within (preferably below) average house prices is long overdue, and also has a massive market potential. Admittedly domestic energy use is a fraction of that used by industrial processes, and also accounts for a similarly small percentage of pollution, but I know nothing about industrial processes and (thankfully) don't pay the bills for them either. At least not directly. I do however know something about houses and how I believe they could work better. My main aim is to build it smaller, but use the space in such a way it's relatively spacious with plenty of storage. I also want to exchange traditional and generally energy wasting and expensive materials for newer materials that cost less. Insulation, and lots of it, is important. I also want high quality finishing materials, but avoiding ornate details and using a more minimalist style should keep the costs reasonable. The other main issue is using the most energy efficient appliances possible, and also installing some renewable stuff like solar hot water heating. At least in concept it seems to work, and hopefully one day I will be able to try it out.

ilene is right about city codes and grey water and black water use. I use water from rain barrels for the vegetable garden, never grey water. Laundry rinse water (unless you ply it with softeners, and even vinegar can cause an acidic condition to your soil) is a low-risk grey water source. Water from dishes is high-risk. You're also supposed to keep grey water within your property bounderies. Grey water should only be stored for 24-hours or less, due to microbes. You should also filter your grey water to reduce solids. Reduce health risks- Suggestions include: -DonÂt use grey water on vegetable gardens. -DonÂt use grey water if any member of your family is suffering from gastroenteritis. -DonÂt irrigate your garden with grey water in wet weather, or if the soil is already sodden. -DonÂt allow grey water to form pools or ponds in your garden. The microbes will thrive, creating an offensive stink and a health hazard. -DonÂt allow your pets to drink grey water. -Take all steps to reduce public access to areas irrigated with grey water. -Keep children away from garden areas irrigated with grey water. -Make sure your swimming pool and any other water features, like ponds and birdbaths, are safe from grey water runoff. -Encourage all the family to wash their hands before eating. Improving the quality of your grey water -You can improve the quality of your grey water by monitoring how your water is used in the first place.
