Remove burned-on vegetable oil from crock pot?

As has been suggested by some sites, I used a crock pot in my oven to bake a rustic bread. The recipe I used said greasing the pot was optional, but I chose to. The recipe called for the pot to be placed in a cool oven and then to be brought to 475. As it was heating there was a terrible smell, but I proceeded and the bread turned out great. But the oil is burned onto the pot and no matter how many times I've soaked and scoured it just isn't coming off. I've tried baking soda and vinegar, even scraping with a knife. Is this pot finished?
