Do not buy Kenmore vacuums!

If you are going to buy a Kenmore vacuum cleaner, do it soon. Right now, the parent company of Panasonic makes them. LG makes a few too. They are relatively good quality. That all is about to change, I am sad to report. The parent company of DIRT DEVIL just bought Hoover and will also be making Kenmore vacuums in the near future. The company is Techtronic Industries (TTI). They are infamous for making the worst products CHINA can slap together. EVERY vacuum sales person and most consumers know how terrible Dirt Devils ALWAYS have been. Anyone who knows ANYTHING about vacuums knows that Dirt Devil is the most terrible brand in the world. As someone who collects vacuums and proudly sold for Sears for 2 years, I am mortified.

I quit buying anything from Sears two years ago and had bought most everything from them before.
I was buying my daughter a dishwasher and had put it on my mastercard. 20 minutes later DD said she really needed a clothes washer so we went back to the desk and told them we wanted to change the dishwasher for a clothes washer and was told we could'nt exchange because i used a mastercard and not a Sears card. after argueing abit, i told them i was calling mastercard and canceling the order. Than they were too friendly.
We went to Lowes and bought the washer. Have'nt been in a Sears store since.

oakleif, you had a sales person who didn't know his butt from his head and didn't want to ask fellow employees for help.

I worked for Sears for years. In your case, the employee should have just done a refund on the dishwasher then a new transaction for the clothes washer. No where does it matter how you pay. You should have gone over his head to complain before he did that stupidity to someone else. He would have either been fired or sent back to new employee this is how you work the register training class.

I own 2 Kenmore vacs. I bought my upright back in 2000 and loved it so much that I went out a year later and bought a cheap canister.

I have a 23 year old sears canister vac that is still running and works great. The only thing is, well.... it is now covered in duck tape....LOL The entire hose is covered in a couple layers of duck tape and a couple of other places also are holding it altogether. I still have 6 more bags for it and then I will get a Dyson.

Oh Vacuumfreake,

You do not know what you are talking about. TTI is a good company. They make vacuum cleaners for other companies also. Not all Royal/DD's are bad. You seem to think that all DD vacuum cleaners are made by one company. You also must think that TTI always made vacuums for Royal Appliance.

I've heard LG is a very good product line, making it's way to the U.S. from Korea. I don't have any LG products, however.

I have had a Kenmore, and I'd never buy another. The attachments barely stayed together, and the hose was way too short. Vacume cleaner fell on top of me every time I tried to use the hose. It broke down after only a year or so.

I went back to Hoover. I love Hoover.
