Okay, I admit I am firmly rooted in the 19th century, and probably no one else is interested in finding true stove blacking, but I found some!

Our wood-burning stove, which was here when we bought the place, had obviously never had anything done to its surface. I wanted to black the cast iron, not paint it, and had trouble finding stove blacking until my dear sister-in-law sent me a Lehman's catalog. Lehman's is kind of a general store, located in Ohio's Amish country. They have tubes of true stove blacking (non-flammable, non-corrosive, non-toxic)! You can find them on-line by googling Lehman's.

Our stove looks fantastic!

We also got kerosene lamp wicks and a hand-operated plant duster. But that's another story . . . .
