Do you have any left over paint? I touch up paint in my house all the time.

When i was a teen, I poured myself a glass of grape juice and walked across the kitchen. Somehow, I tripped and my hand with ther glasss in it jerked upwards, spattering grape juice on the ceiling. It had to be repainted.

graywings , no. I wish we did. I found some paint the builders left, but none labeled ceiling Just kitchen, and the rest of the house. We aren't *painters* here. Don't enjoy it, and aren't even good at it so I guess we'll have to call someone and get some estimates.

arizonarose - wait! Don't call in a painter just yet. Generally builders do not use ceiling paint. They use regular paint on the ceiling.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes, buy a disposable paint brush for a dollar, and ask them for a stir stick or two (they are free). Assuming your ceiling is white, try covering over one of the spots with any white paint they left behind. Truly, it is just a matter of stirring the paint, dipping the brush in, and running the brush over the spot. Then check it after it dries.

If they didn't leave you any white paint, go to a paint store that carries the brand that you painter left behind - Duron, Sherwin Williams, whatever. Ask them what shade of white the contractors usually buy. In my area, they tend to use the color "Shell White" which many companies have but it varies in shade slightly from paint company to paint company. Sometimes they call it Builder White.

graywings, thanks! We'll try some of the kitchen paint ( it's a satin finish) Since the ceiling goes all the through the living room I don't know if they used the flat or the satin on the ceiling but we'll give it a whirl. If it's not right we'll have it done. I notice some hairline cracking at some of the wall/corner areas that need fixing anyway so we can just get it all done if need be.

One can fix stains on ceilings, or walls for that matter, by repainting.
