kitchen grease fire

I could use some suggestions for cleaning up a kitchen grease fire that started on the stove. What products work good, something I can buy a WalMart or Menards. I could use suggestions for getting rid of the odor also. Thank you.

RE: kitchen grease fire

My mother in law used Mr Clean Magic Erasers on all her cupboards. That is the only thing that she found to cut the soot easily without wearing her out.

She also opened windows, simmered vinegar on the stove (vinegar smell was awful but when it went away so did the smoke smell-- works on skunk too!)

Her ceiling was popcorn and she scraped that off and just painted it.

It is a real PITA. Good luck!
