I have an old slate blackboard that used to be found in schools. There is a stain that looks like it was some sort of white liquid. Any suggestions on how to attempt to clean this? I don't want to damage the slate. Thanks.

Soap and water is a good starting place. Linda C |

Oxiclean and water was used with a 3M pad. The stain is still there which is why I am looking for ideas for the next step. Thanks.

Do you know what caused the white stain?

Is it obviously a "stain". Slate comes in several colors and the sources of slate may have mixed colors. Could this be a natural discoloration?

I don't know what caused the stain. The blackboard came from my Aunt's estate. The stain looked like something dripped on it - it's definitely not natural to the slate. Thanks.
