I have reclaimed hardwood floors. About two years ago I stripped all of the wax off and reapplied feed and wax to it. It was always smudge looking. Hated it. I always cleaned with ammonia and water to remove the wax. I know it's a no no but it removes build up. Anyway I contacted Howard's company to get some advice on restoring them. So I just finished the floors with restore a finish. It's beautiful! When clean. He recommended bona to clean with. As soon as the floor dried I allowed the dogs back in and replaced the furniture. Paw prints, smudges, smears. I'm so frustrated. I did not re wax it as of yet. How can I keep them clean without all the smears?

Years ago when I had real hardwood floors that required using paste wax on them, there were always smears, streaks, etc. from just walking on the floor. I can imagine what pets would do to a floor.

A floor polisher was kept busy polishing out the smears, streaks, etc. It was that or learn to live with it.
