cleaning fruit crate labels

These have been bonded to wood (not by me!) rather than framed, and hung in the kitchen for years. It's time to remodel and, you guessed it, they've got grease and grime. Not much, but . . . Is there a safe way to clean them? They're not valuable, but are charming.

Maybe go over them with an eraser. A pink one or "art gum" type may work. Good luck. Sounds like an interesting project!
