Hello all! I am in the middle of writing a book on Steam Cleaning, and I'd love to send you a free copy. To help me have the most effective content possible, I'm interested in knowing what you're TOP, most important steam cleaning questions are. (I'm talking about using a steam cleaner to do any/all cleaning in your homes.)

If you'll go to the link listed below, you'll find a screen that just asks you one question. If you'll help me out by filling it out, I'll email you a complimentary copy of the book in a few weeks when it is complete (no strings attached). Thank you for a moment of your time and I hope my research and information comes in handy for you!

What is your most important question about cleaning with steam?

Here's my question: The main reason that people buy steam cleaners is to clean their floors. Yet flooring manufacturers warn not to use a steamer on their products and some will even void the warranty if a steamer is used. I would like you to do a series of tests on various types of flooring and report on the results of how the flooring is affected by the steam, especially at the seams. We all know steam is fine on ceramic tile. But what about these surfaces:

VINYL
LAMINATE
TRAVERTINE
MARBLE
GRANITE
HARDWOOD FLOORS with these finishes:
Oil-modified urethane
Moisture-cured
Water-based
Conversion-Varnish Sealers-(Swedish Finishes)
Penetrating Sealers
Paste Wax
Varnish
Lacquer
Dewaxed Shellac

You should also specify the brands of steam machines you use for these tests and the temperature of the steam at the tip of each machine, as it varies widely.

To chemocurl,
Thank you for your suggestion. That does seem to make a lot of sense, but I have found in researching in the past, people will ask different questions in forums than they will look for in books. I get more well rounded topics and ideas from pooling my research this way.
Thanks for your idea, however.
