Try squirting dish washing liquid on it and spread it around with your hand. Use plenty then lay a wet towel over it and let it set. For me 5 or 10 minutes is enough for a regular spill but it will probably take longer if it cleans it at all.

I have a similar stove top and would never have one if I still had a family to cook for. I prefer an electric cook top, the burners clean themselves.

Get a razor blade scraper and scrape off all you can. Then use your ceramic top cleaner! The razor will NOT harm your stove. Trust me this is my second ceramic top and when I sold my old house there was not a mark on it.
When you are using the cleaner are you using it with a wet towel or rag you should!

Thanks Red. No, when I use the cleaner, I only use a dry nylon pad with the liquid straight from the container without diluting it. I would try the wet towel

You can use a razor blade! I've had burnt sugar on mine. I use the same type of blade they use to take stickers off of car window. Just hold it at an angle and gently scrape away. As long as you are not holding it upright and gouging with it, it will not scratch it. Do you let your ceramic stove top cleaner sit and dry first? I always do that, and have really good results. Oh, grandmamaloy, good to know that I should let it dry first. I always wanted to clean right away. No wonder it always took a lot of effort...

I take the easy way! I use Easy off oven cleaner spray. I line around the counter top with paper towels, so as not to get overspray on the granite. I leave it for about 30 min. I put damp paper towels over the cleaner. Works like a dream. I have always used the razor blade first.
