How to Clean Mold off White Wood Rockers

We have 4 wooden rockers that we purchased at Lowe's. We live on a lake and the rockers are turning green/black with mold/mildew. How do I get the mildew off? I've use diluted bleach and siding cleaner with elbow grease but that doesn't seem to work very well and they are now stained. I don't want to get rid of them, I like them too much! Help!

Try Tilex or X-14, rinse and dry thoroughly. You may need to paint the wood with a mold inhibitor added to the paint. Or varnish with marine varnish (spar varnish).

While you may be able to remove surface mold from painted finish, it is not likely that you will be able to remove the stain. Repainting will restore the finish. Keeping surfaces clean and dry tend to keep mildew at bay.

This might be a stretch, but try the Magic Eraser by Mr. Clean. We have furniture in our lanai in Florida and I have used the eraser to clean mold off our furniture.

Bleach will KILL mold. Try a diluted mixture and see if it helps. Increase strength if you can to get all of it. Best of luck.
