Baby Oil for hard water spots?

Make this as short as I can. I've made removing some water spots from a shower door and personal battle between me and the spots. I have tried over a dozen major acidic products and home remedies - NOTHING has worked. then I read someplace to just use baby oil; yes, baby oil. Well I tried and I'll be damned if it didn't look like it's worked miracles. Now I know it is not removing the hard water spots because nothing comes off on the rag. but it sure makes them disapear. Does anyone know what is going on? I suspect after a few days the spots will just come back again in all their glory.

Oils and waxes will help prevent spots. I've never hear of removing them. Automotive buff and wax products are formulated to remove and also prevent.
