| I am ashamed to admit it, but my kitchen cabinents have a sticky gummy buildup around the handles. They are solid cherry w/an oil finish -not varnished. They were custom made by the prior owners. When I try to scrub the gunk off, it takes off the finish. How do I get this gunk off without ruining my cabinents? |

| The short answer is that probably you can't get the gunk off without taking off the finish, because the gunk is a combination of oil from your fingers, kitchen grease, house dust, AND the finish. You can find lots of products that will take off the gunk, but then you will have to figure out how to touch up the areas around the handles to match the cabinets. You may want to post on the Furniture forum and see what they have to say. For the cleaning, if I had solid cherry cabinets, I would probably use one of the Formby's products. |
