I've had good luck with making my own bottle brushes. Use a coat hanger the desired length and bend the end over a piece of cloth the desired lenght and or thickness. Clamp this down tight with pliers. You can even use a thinner wire for those very small openings Really gets into corners well.

I do the same thing, but I don't bother to connect them. I push the cloth into the bottle, use the coat hanger to swish it around, and then go fishing for it with the bent edge of the hanger.
