If you're talking about those burnt on spatters--Another good use for baking soda. Make a paste with water, spread on the spots, let sit a bit, then scrub with a nylon scrubby.

Not just spatters completely burnt on the entire glass. I tried baking soda in past but did'nt make a paste, will try again, I have a feeling I will have to use something stronger, but what? Thaks for the advice azzalea, I'm a newbie all the way from Ireland, thrilled I found this site.

I've had pretty good luck with the Magic Erasers from Mr. Clean.

I just cleaned a used oven glass insert too. Paste of baking soda, leave on for little while, and then I gently scraped with a plastic knife. It took a couple of passes with the mixture, and then white vinegar to finish off and then wiped with just water. It took a couple of hours, but the door is clean.
