Hose-end sprayer to put soapy water on house siding?

Posted by mrehberg (My Page) on

I need to wash a few years of accumulated dust, dirt and Mount Redoubt volcano off my flat, smooth wood siding. I plan to use my long extension pole (that I usually use for paint rollers and roof cleaning) screwed on to a soft brush.

Instead of dipping this brush into a bucket full of soapy water a thousand times, I wonder if I can instead use a hose-end sprayer to spray soapy water onto the siding.

Has anyone done this? Any particular sprayer recommended for use with soap?

You can buy pre-packaged siding cleaners that come with hose end spray attachments - the link below is for crud cutter.

I have used a hand pump sprayer for applying a bleach solution to my siding. You would need to make sure that the spray nozzle could support the thicker soap mix that you plan to use. And you will need a ladder to reach the top of the second story.
