VAX vacuums

A friend of mine has one and loves it. She auditioned a Dyson and says this one is much easier to use. Anyone out there have one and used the attachments? I do love my attachments and these looked like they might be harder to work with.

RE: VAX vacuums

I've had my vax for a while and it's okay. It has two different filters that are a pain to clean, and in my kitchen I end up using the hose end almost exclusively. I bought it because I needed a vacuum which could go bwt. wood floors, tile and carpet by just a flip of the beater bar button and it does this. I like that I can look down and see that the beater brush is not turning when I'm doing my hardwoods. I find on the rugs that my cats sit on I have to go over and over the area to get all the cat hair off. I like the hose attachment. The upholstery tool doesn't stay in once you pop it out and doesn't work as well as the hose anyways. The best feature is the button which operates the beater brush, which is the main reason I bought it. That being said, I haven't found anything else in the price range that does the things I bought the Vax for, so I guess I'd buy it again.

No idea why I decided to dredge-up an almost two year old thread but the VAX X5 is the worst vacuum I've ever owned! It clogs instantly and the bag-less system needs cleaning, with a garden hose, after every use.
I put this thing out on the curb and for three days nobody picked it up. $300 down the drain. Good thing I saved my old Eureka bag unit. Still use it today. VAX is a chunk of you know what!

The best vacs for carpeting are still those old Hoover convertibles and Eureka's. The old fashioned looking ones from the 60's and 70's with the big cloth or vinyl bag hanging behind the handle. Plain, simple and they work
