cleaning a leather couch

I haven't seen it yet, but someone is selling a leather couch who said it needs cleaning. Is it possible that it wouldn't be "cleanable"?

I don't want to spend the money to bring it to my house and find that it cannot be cleaned.

I neglected to mention that this is a black couch. I don't own a vapor steam cleaner. Someone advised that it may need to be professionally cleaned-I have no idea of what the cost may be. I am going to look at the couch tomorrow. I appreciate your responses and look forward to a reply.
