cleaning glass shower doors-easy!

I do this all the time on my scummy glass sliders.
NO elbow grease HARDLY at all.
NO STORE cleaners.

Just have these items:

1) Large spray bottle of PURE WHITE VINEGAR. No diluting.

2) 1 or 2 LARGE "Extra Power" Mr. Clean MAGIC ERASERS.
(I buy the one that has 2 large ones in a box)

3) Buy Rain-X in yellow spray bottle for GLASS & WINDOW cleaning. You will find near the granite stone cleaners and NOT in the auto section.

YOU ARE READY.

Spray the vinegar top and to bottom on the glass panels and saturate the scum.

Take the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and wipe/clean/lightly rub the scum off (watch how EASY it does!!).

Keep re-spraying and wiping as needed until you see the glass is clear and scum if removed.

IT HAPPENS FAST!! I smile now. I was so happy!!!

Do this everywhere you need to get that scum off and rinse and spray vinegar and just keep wiping. You will NOT need to do this so long and hard, TRUST ME.

Once you see clear glass and scum gone...rinse with shower hose.

Dry glass with white paper towels (NO cloth towels)

FINAL STEP WHICH SEALS THE GLASS AND MAKES IT "BEAD" AFTER SHOWERING:

Spray ON Rain-X and wipe as directed with white paper towels.

YOU ARE DONE.

The glass panels will bead and hold their clarity and shne longer thane very before!!!

Always, always, use squigee after every shower.

(Hint: After my showers, I sometimes spray vinegar lightly when I'm done and rinse the doors down. Works like a charm.)

I would love to hear back from those who do this. This whole process took me 15 minutes last night. Amazing.

I'm telling ya...I hardly spend any time anymore and I have a family that ALL uses this shower every day, all the time.

We have a frame less shower. I had no idea the amount of time it was going to take to get and keep all that glass clean and clear.

I've tried Rain X and HATE it. The glass never looks clear to me. It always looks filmy, foggy or streaky.

Years ago my MIL told me how she kept her tile shower looking brand spanking new. After drying herself she'd dry the shower tiles and tub! WHOA! I didn't have time to do all that! I was a busy mom of 2 little ones!

Now here we are 30 years later and I have 'the time'. LOL

After every shower I wrap myself in a towel and take a hand towel, fold it up to be slightly larger than my hand and wipe down all the glass, the fixtures and then the walls. I re fold the towel for each section so I'm always starting off with a dry side. By the time I get to the walls, its not as dry but those aren't as hard to get dried as the glass. I polish it off with a micro fiber cloth as needed. I even sometimes wipe the floor.

Both towels get spread out to dry and are reused after my next shower.

It was a tough habit to establish, but I forced myself to do it.

This takes less than a minute and doesn't have to be perfect. That's the secret! You do have the time-- if you just do it!

The shower and glass look great all the time now.
Getting most of the water dried up keeps mold from growing in there.

Of course I had to do a very good scouring to start off with and vinegar and dawn made it much easier. Now its just a quick wipe down after the shower.

Most of the time I follow up hubby's showers with a quick wipe down to keep those spots from showing up. If I miss a time, its no big deal--just be sure to wipe down after the next shower. (There's no way Hubby is going to dry the shower himself)

This beats having those nasty water marks and soap scum build up and having to set aside a huge chunk of time to get in there and scrub it all down every couple of weeks.

But.. keeping the counters clean and sparkle-y is another story.. will work on that habit next!

This sounds so easy. I hate this job but it sounds like it is much easier with these things. Will have to try.

If you do not use bar soap, you will not get soap scum on your doors! Bar soap has talc in it that deposits on the glass.

I guess it depends somewhat on your local water but the magic eraser is what actually does the cleaning, so I'd suggest trying that first without spraying vinegar all over.

Also, using a hand towel takes quite a bit more effort than just running a squeegee over the glass which also keeps scum away quite effectively. I do that, and have timed myself: 20 seconds/shower.

I'm all about working smarter, not harder as the saying goes. If you need to take the extra steps, so be it but I'd try the easier routes first and see if they take care of the problem.

I had to replace my double shower because of a leak. I have the world's hardest water and a whole house water softener which causes it's own problems due to etching.

I do like Melvalena. Every single time. Takes about three minutes, nothing else involved except towels and after three years, my shower is pristine. All the time.
