| Okay...barely unpacked from the move, and now I get to do spring cleaning activities! How much fun can a girl have?! ;)
What do you do to store your out of season clothes? I usually put things in under-the-bed boxes, or put clean trash bags over the hangers. Since I'm starting everything else new...is there anything new in this area? Thanks for the tips! Weary |

| We put closet organizer's in all of the closets in our house. Just the do-it-yourself kits from Lowe's. Since we almost doubled our space I no longer need to store out of season clothes. Before that, I would store stuff in Rubbermaid containers in the basement. They kept everything from getting wet or smelly. |

| When we moved I purchased large boxes designed for hanging clothing on hangers in for storage/moving (we had to put our household effects in storage for several weeks before we could complete our move). We then used those sturdy boxes for off-season clothing until we built a closet for them in the basement. Things that needed flolding could be put on the bottom of the box and everything else hung on hangers. It's nice having things on hangers rather than folded in boxes and tubs. You can also use Rolling Clothes Racks - some even come with covers to keep dust off the clothing. You can also make storage if your space is limited. Take sturdy round metal or plastic trash containers and store the off-season clothing in them. Put a round piece of wood on the top, drape a round tablecloth on the top to conceal the entire container, and perhaps a round piece of tempered glass or plexiglass on top of the cloth (keeps the table cloth clean). Now you have a bedside stand or a side table as well as storage. -Grainlady |

| My Mom has the ideal situation-a double clothes rack in her bedroom closet. All the she to do is rotate from one season to the next. |

| Grainlady, very clever idea about disguising a barrel of clothes. Christopher Lowell used to call that "Merchandising." Think you've done him one better. Sandy |

| What I DON'T recommend is the Space Bags you see advertised on TV. I was so excited to get these, for many reasons, mostly because we have a lake cabin. It was a PITA to bring all the bedding home at the end of the season and wash, dry and store it in my home. So a few years ago I got the space bags and washed all the bedding. When it was dry I put it in the Space Bags with the intention of leaving them at the cabin and having fresh bedding when we returned the next summer. I vacuumed the air out, as you see on tv and busied myself with other cabin closing chores. When I walked through the room where the Space Bags were 20 minutes later I was shocked to see that all the air had seeped back into the Space Bag, even though I used their vacuum seal. Plus, it was not easy to get these bulky items into the bag without splitting their delicate seams. In the end, it was just as though I had stored my items in garbage bags. I wish the bags would have worked, my cabin items were only the first of many things I was going to store that way. |

| Hi. We have small closets so I always have to do this task and I hate it. We have closet organizers and I even purge yearly, but I never have enough space. Also, our storage space is attic space so I like to make sure everything is pretty well sealed (I've lost many a wool sweater to moths). This season I purchased soft plastic storage bags from Kmart (with breathable vents) -- and put our things in labled soft square plasic bags. Sadly, Space Bags do not work -- I have bought these numerous times in the hopes that maybe I just packed it wrong, but they never stay sealed and the zipper always breaks rendering them absolutely USELESS... Those Giant Glad bags also work but not as well as the ones from Kmart. Good luck. |

| Hi. I got them in Kmart in the closet asile -- they are called "Martha Stewart everyday Extra Large Storage Bags". I also got ones at Target but they did not have the "vented sides" to allow for air circulation. These are thick plastic bags (like the bags that hold sheets and linens when you first purchase them). They hold up much better than the Glad bags or the Space bags and they don't get wrinkled or cloudy (I've had a variation of this bag which I purchased from Bed Bath and Beyond 3 years ago and they still look new-- BBB did not have them this year). Hope this helps. |
