I guess you would want to compare the power specs of this product with the real central vacs and with a shop vac. I had a central vac in a previous house and loved it. Had a toekick sweep in the kitchen; seldom used it.

As for mounting this system in your kitchen, you need to know how loud it would be. They mount central vacs in garages and basements to protect you from the noise, and because cleaning out the machine can be messy.

Is this anything more than a shop vac that is mounted on a wall?

I have a toekick sweep with central vac and it is seldom used. Why? Because I don't use a broom. I find it is much easier and I get better results to just vacuum the floor with the hard floor attachment. I have tried using a swiffer to move the dirt to the toekick sweep but find it is faster to just vacuum.

My experience is like debrak2008's, though I do use it maybe once or twice a year. I guess it would depend if you are a regular broom user. Also sometimes the dogs in their quest for toys will set off the toekick sweep and scare the bejeezus out of us (and themselves).
