Getting rid of electrical fire smell

We had a light bulb in a floor lamp start sparking and then a lot of black smoke. The smoke lasted for about 1 minute. I immediately pulled out the plug and this lamp will be thrown out. But we are left with a horrible electrical smell. It about 24 degrees outside and we are have horrible weather. I can't just air the house out. Any suggestions on how to rid us of this smell?

I had a lamp blow out and start a fire in my sofa (a workman tipped the lamp on its side and it was leaning against the back of a sofa. The heat of the bulb singed the fabric). So I know how bad that smell is. There is no cover up that works. You will have to open a window. Sorry to give you bad news. At least wait till a day with no precipitation.

Thanks, we did air out the room today for a few hours and it did help. Before the next storm hits, we will air out the room again.
