Our floor was marred by the electrician's ladder. The padding on the feet apparently wore off, and we got some deep scratches. Could someone have worn golf shoes on the floor?

No, no golf shoes, but it sure looks awful...sort of like the pattern of a screen door in some places.

I knew I was in for trouble, because just as you explained, the first scratch appeared from the painter's ladder. :My scratches are not deep, but there are too many of them for me to ignore. I suspect my sons are the culprits, but what do I do about eliminating them???? (My scratches, not my boys.)

Call a natural stone installer and a stone cutter and ask if there is any kind of buffing that could fix it. I fear you may discover it costs more to buff it than replace it, but it is worth asking.

I have been watching this thread ease down the page and I had just about given up!

Perhaps I will post on the Floors Forum and see what they may suggest. In the meantime, I will begin to assemble numbers from the phonebook. I love this floor, but really? SIGH. Ruined in two years?
