I have a two year old Duet front loader. I just checked it and I had a few spots of mold on the sides, none on the top. I stuck my hand in and wiped off the mold with a paper towel.

If there had been a lot of mold, I would have wiped it down with a rag that had been dipped in a water/bleach solution.

I generally leave the soap drawer partially open for ventilation.

I NEVER use my soap drawer for anything but adding bleach to a load of wash and have no mold (just checked to make sure). I put the needed liquid detergent in the plastic cup that it comes with and put the cup in with the clothes. The detergent gets dispersed in the wash load and the cup gets cleaned at the same time, ready for the next load. Been doing this forever, even when I had a top loader.

I avoid liquid detergent and fabric softener. I also leave the door and dispenser drawer open when the machine is resting.

Thanks everyone for your input. The rag with bleach sounds like a good idea, but I donÂt think itÂs big enough to fit my hand. I can try a rag on a stick.

I called Whirlpool and she said just spray bleach on it and let it drain into the machine and then run clean cycle. I am sure itÂs because I use liquid soap and liquid softener. Maybe I can switch to dry soap and use dryer sheets in the dryer. I hate to think of that mold getting anywhere near my clothes!!!
