Riccar vacuums?

Posted by tess42002 (My Page) on

I need a new vacuum. My hoover bagless windtunnel is a peice of junk. So, I think I am done with bagless unless you all can convince me otherwise.

I really want something that will last, not another throw away plastic vacuum. I don't know anyone who has a Riccar and had never heard of them before, but what I have read online looks good. And, I liked what I saw at the vac and sew shop I went window shoping at. Does anyone have more insight into them? the 8955 has some really good reviews on epinions.com but couldn't find any reviews on the web for the Radiance model which has some nice additional features.

I was thinking of getting an upright. Is there any advantage to a canister? I've never owned one. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Check out a Rainbow Vacuum or a Kirby Vacuum.

I now have both and am amazed at how well they clean.

Hi there. Riccar is a really great brand. I don't own one, but I know they are wonderful. Very good quality, and very powerful. The Radiance is pretty new so I'm not surprised you couldn't find any reviews yet. A canister would be easier if you have bare floors or back problems. If not, you would probably be more comfortable with an upright. Your Hoover bagless WindTunnel, while a terrible vacuum did one thing well. It convinced you not to go with bagless... for that you owe it a debt of gratitude. Bagless vacuums are messy and clog with dirt very fast so they become inefficient very quickly... but you already found that out. Justin suggested Kirby or Rainbow... I collect vacuums and have both. Fun vacuums, but impractical for every day use. The Rainbow makes mud in the dirt water every time you vacuum, and is a canister. The new Kirbys are self propelled, but heavy to move around... great quality and great cleaners. Good luck in your search.

I have a Riccar for several years now, about 7yrs I think. I have hardwood floors and the vacuum works great. I also use it on my area rugs and will say yes to another

I've had the Riccar 8850 for about five years now, and had another Riccar model for the five years before that. (They last way longer tha five years, my h just decided to upgrade it for me for Mother's Day one year. @@) Love, love love it, wouldn't trade it. We had a mix of flooring in our old house (carpet, hardwood, tile, vinyl) but have hardwood with area rugs thoughout the new one (well, tile in the full baths) and it works great on everything.

You really can't go wrong with a Riccar!
