Outdoor sealant over acrylic paints on clay pots

I'm trying to make the claypot lighthouses out of the June 2008 Crafts n' Things as gifts. It calls for outdoor paints but I already have FolkArt acrylic paints in the exact colors I need. Can I use these then put a sealant over it? What sealant would you consider best. These will definately be facing the elements since they have solar lights on top.

Also, I've had these paints for awhile. If some are 'slightly' dry what is best to use to make them the right consistancy.

Can you tell I'm a beginner!?

RE: Outdoor sealant over acrylic paints on clay pots

We are beginners at one time or another. In my experience, reg acryic tube paints have been used for outdoor ceramics and mine have lasted for the last 3 yrs. A paint that I recommend for outdoor use is called "patio paints". I have tried indoor paints with a various sealers without any luck. Hope this helps a bit. Good LK
