Liquid clay for thick shiny finish?

A lady whom makes cigar box purses has a beautiful glass like finish on them. She told me she uses liquid clay. I have Liquid Sculpy but can't figure out how to get the finish over the image on the cigar box and make it shiny. Has anybody ever done this?
