identifying old clay pottery

I need to find a place where someone can help me identify an old clay "jug". It was probably made in Alabama in the 1930 to 1950 time frame. Brown clay about the size of an old hillbilly's corn whisky jug. Except there is no handle and no hole in the top. On the top is a slight bulb so it looks like it could be hung up by a rope or big string. The only hole in it is a small (about 1 inch) oval hole on the side right at the bottom. It looks like it could be a bird house but I think the hole is too small. Any ideas? I could post a photo I think. Is there a better forum?
Thanks Hawkeye

You might get some help in the Antiques forum here. Sounds interesting! I'll keep an eye out in case you go over there and post a photo, I'd love to see what it looks like!
