New here- kilns and pottery eating ware-Help!

Hello! I am interested in painting plates. Can anyone please tell me what kind of materials I will need in terms of types of plate/pottery that can be painted, glazed and kilned. I don't own a kiln but would like to buy one if I am successful with the first run. Can anyone tell me which is best a gas or electric ( I understand I need a license for gas?).
Thank you!
Leah

Hallo there,
I have been making decorative pottery for awhile. You can buy the blanks as they are called from bisque importers or your local paint your own pot places they have now. I'd go to AAMACO ceramic supplies online and get your glazes. ( they have food safe.) My kiln came with built in program to fire at exactly the right temparature for functional pottery. I have been selling pottery at fairs and festivals for 9 years. Jane.

Here is a link that might be useful: My pottery
