Making a mask with a metal template

I'm wanting to make the bunny mask from the Donnie Darko movie for Halloween( http://ronculus-maximus.com/DONNIEDARKO.HTML )
and I want to make it out of polymer clay. Can I make the mask on metal face template and then bake the clay in the oven while it's still on the metal template so that it will hold the right shape?

Also, what would be a very good, strong clay to use for a mask, so that the ears on the mask won't break easily?
