Painting greenware question

Posted by beachmom99 (My Page) on

My son made a piece of pottery at an art fair but we didn't get it fired. Are we able to paint this? We don't have any access to a kiln so is it possible to use some type of craft paint without going through the firing process? Can you put any type of sealer on afterwards?
thanks!

RE: Painting greenware question

This is just clay as it is and it must be fired.
He can paint the greenware with underglazes and then fire once, afterwards applying a sealant or not. This will eliminate the glaze firing.
