Paint a garlic jar ???

I think its terra cotta pottery. Looks dingy. Can it be painted/cleaned ? What type of paint ? Thanks !

if it's been sealed or not should be easily painted with water based acrylic paints, the craft store variety would work. I think you can also spray over whatever design you use, with a spray sealer. But I dont think it's completely necessary.

I have cleaned regular clay pots with water and a stiff kitchen brush. Even yucky ones brought in from outside with green aged stuff and dirt on them, they clean up fine.
