Shells, dryed beans, beads, buttons, jelly beans, colored
pop corn, potpourri, that's all I can come up with right
now. Maybe someone else can give you more ideas.

I've seen them displayed with poinsettas in them.

Small peppermint candies, those wired star garlands in silver and gold, holiday colored M&M's, I've also used those small flat round glass thingies (suffering a brain cramp) found in the floral accessory aisle, they come in many colors, but the bowl would be kinda heavy unless you use just a few slots for the glass.

I was thinking holly and ivy and other greenery, but I like pointsettias much more.

How about crushed glass ornament balls?

Carefully cut old xmas cards the right shape and slide in, or make copies of family photos (I found a bunch of photos of one set of cousins from every xmas from way back, copied them, cut 'em up and put into the bowl. Gave it to them for xmas - what fun we all had laughing and remembering. Another cousin took the idea and ran with it - got old pics, copied 'em and made a bowl for her folks wedding anniversary. You can also use slips of paper with good wishes written on them and fill the slots (we've saved the slips from fortune cookies too) - Happy holidays - :>karenb
