Fall Table #3

Okay...hope you enjoyed your 24 hr break from my pics -
So, now that you're all 'refreshed and bright eyed' here's some more....

Just a few changes to the same dishes..also a little more added 'glitz' on the Cornucopia.
Please forgive the 'Fuzziness' of the pictures.

Photobucket

The two white Gravyboat Tureens, on each end of the table, belonged to my mother. I had always admired them as a young girl. One Christmas, she brought them over and said 'Now They're Yours'! I just love them.

Photobucket

Some of you might remember these footed bowls. I bought them when my DD had a Home Interiors Party a few years ago. They had really nice things..but a bit pricey. Of course, I had to set an example and be one of her best customers!
Photobucket

Photobucket

The plates I got from TJMax..they were on clearance $2 ea and the chargers you all might recognize Walmart $3 ea.. I also got their Leaf Napkin Rings...that I see some of you already have.

Photobucket

I used a leaf garland to put under the Cornucopia to add some fullness.

Photobucket

The placemats were from CTS. I bought them this summer while up at the Cape for $1.29 ea...they have a nice cut out leaf pattern.

I can post more pictures tomorrow night, if your eyes and brain are up to it...
We're driving down to NY to pick up my DGson after school.
He's spending the weekend...WoooHooo!!

Well Jane, wooohooo back at ya! That's another beautiful table. I think it's one of my favorites. The placemat and chargers are wonderful and I love all the white dishes with them. So happy to read about the tureens being your DM. And I'm glad you supported DD by buying the footed bowls from her party. Your setting looks romantic to me.

TFS and I'll be ready for more when you have time to post the next one. Hope your weekend with GS is the best. Do you have any special plans with him?

RE: Fall Table #3

Thanks Punk...
Glad you liked this setting..I think the colors are really nice for a 'Romantic Setting' ..lol

DGS has Friday off from school, and will be coming to 'Escape' his 3 younger siblings...lol
That's a treat in itself to him. But actually, he's really coming to help DH set up his Christmas Village. It won't get done in these couple of days, but it's nice to have him here to help. Of course we'll take him out for Pizza and stuff...he likes the one on one fuss. We love it too.
When we take the 3 younger ones..it's usually all together..they don't like coming alone..they get bored easily..even though we 'stand on our heads' for them LOL
They have different interests and have to be entertained 24/7.

Thanks again for your comments..

Ohhh Jane, so pretty! I LOVE your centerpiece, so rich looking! The white footed bowls were worth every penny (or many pennies!) you spent on them! They go perfect with those lovely white plates. The leaves on the charger edges are great as are the ones on the placemats. Oh, I LOVE it all! Your dining room is so cozy looking too.
Have fun with your DGS!

Jane, your Mother's tureens are wonderful. And of course your tablesetting is as well. I really like what you did with the cornucopia. VERY pretty.

It sounds like a wonderful time with your grandson! I love my 4 littlest grandkids, but not all together unless in small doses. LOL. I don't have that kind of energy now. Just listening to the two little girls chatter non-stop can be exhausting. LOL.

hugs, Karen

RE: Fall Table #3

Jane, you created such an elegant looking table. Everything coordinates beautifully.

What a nice story about the Gravyboat Tureens. I know how special they are to you... and so pretty, too.

The placemats and chargers really catch my eye.

Thanks for sharing these photos -- and your chargers sure look more expensive than $3.00!

Enjoy your grandson's visit. Does he like to eat in the dining room with a pretty table, or is he not interested?

Ms. Jane, you have outdone yourself Ma'am! That is gorgeous, and I love the story of the tureens..
Have a great weekend with GS...aren't they cool to have around????
Thanks for sharing, and we are looking forward to the next installment.

I love your beautiful, elegant fall table. I'll have to look for those chargers. Your centerpiece is awesome!

Another slam dunk, Jane! What a gorgeous table! I love seeing pics of your dining room, as it's my all-time favorite. It looks especially lovely in the candlelight. too. I have the same chargers. Be careful with them as they scratch so easily, although you've probably figured that out yourself. Your white dinnerware looks so pretty with your mother's gravy boats. You're inspiring me to get out my own white pieces to try in an Autumn arrangement. Thanks for the ideas!
How wonderful for your DGS to have that alone time with you and your DH. My grandparents did that with me when I was young and I still remember those very special times with them. Have a great weekend with him!

Jane,
Everything has been said, so ditto. My favorite is the chargers, they are usually so expensive. Your candle sticks have inspired me. My local TS has a gajillion brass ones and dummy me I forgot I have a giant set of brass flatware from Siam. May use this idea for my Thanksgiving table. TFS

I always seem to get on here last for some reason--maybe it's that West coast time thing! First off, I just have to say that I am so glad you have felt like putting together some tables to share with us. You have such nice items and certainly know how to put them together well. I really like the "fullness" your leaf swag added to the centerpiece, and the candles on there with it just make it seem elegant. I've never seen those chargers at our Walmart but will certainly be watching closely from now on, I love the detail on them. The tureens are so pretty and how wonderful that your Mom passed them on to you to use and enjoy. Excellent tablescape and i'm sure Miss Karen will snag it for the album.

Loved seeing your whole room, it is so "calm" and "lovely", each piece you have in it just seems to be the perfect choice for the space. Thanks for sharing your lovely home, accessories, and decorating with us. ;o)

I'm late to this thread also but trying to limit my time online so I get something done IRL! I'm also on Pacific time so am either very early or very late.

Your entire DR and table are just gorgeous! I love it all! About the overly expensive footed bowls, what I always do in my mind is average the expensive things with the real bargains so I don't feel bad about spending a bit more on some things. I have a very expensive candle lamp from a similar sort of party but it was held as a fundraiser for a charity so I feel OK about it. Your other wonderful low priced things make up for it! You've chosen some really lovely things and gotten them for really fantastic prices.

Keep the pics coming, it's all very inspirational! :-)

Jane, I must say I've sooo enjoyed ALL of your beautiful vignettes and tablescapes. 1,2, and 3 are just what I needed! I'm glad they are your therapy, because I feel better after looking at them all! I could look forever. Everytime I go back to enjoy, I see something I missed the last time.

I especially loved all of the sharing about the DH 'hearing problems' that every wife has on your Vignette#2. I sure chuckled a lot on that one!

Every setting you did was lovely. The blue quail were so unusual. I've been on the hunt for some affordable pheasant dishes and tablescape items. Haven't had much luck yet.

Those tall orange candles on each side just set off your awesome cornucopia to a T. It is the prettiest cornucopia I've ever seen. Never cared for them until I saw your's.

And you already know I'm as bad about pumpkins soup bowls as Luvs is about acorns! Enuf said!! LOL

Don't you love having things that belonged to your DM?
I think your last picture shows off the beautiful shape of your tureens best.

About 2 months ago I was at Walmart with DD. I put 4 chargers just like your's in my basket and gave them a little ride while I bought some things for the Gkids.
Then I had a 'Senior Moment' and decided I had spent enough money and really didn't need them and told DD to put them back on the shelf for me.

Can you believe that?

I do feel better after Lynn said they scratch easily. They would never make it around here with my rambunctious Gboys!

And I need those $$s to buy more candles after seeing how much prettier more candles make a table look.

Enjoy the fun with DGS. I've had 'all day-every day' with my 6 year old DGS this week. He will stick right with me. Since we are the only ones sick, I have to get all of my loving from him! I'm scared to even be in the same room with the others.

Do share more of these delicious pictures with us when you can. Soon, I hope.

TFS,
Betty

Beautiful table, Jane..
I love those footed bowls..
Your mom's tureens are so pretty, and I am sure she was happy that you will enjoy them..

RE: Fall Table #3

Thank you ALL so very much. I enjoyed reading all your warm comments.
I'm sure all of you feel as I do....when I'm setting these tables...even though no company is coming...They're being set for ALL of my friends here. Just knowing that you are 'eyeing' every detail...makes me want to see it through your eyes...and so I try to do my best.
Since I've been here, I've learned (still am), so much from each and every one of you, by what you've shared. Thank you!

DD...it's nice to hear from you. I know you are so busy with your blog. I just love All you do..you're a great 'Teacher'.

Karen..I know what you mean about having 4 gkids all at once..I don't know how my DD does it, and you're right, little girls, with their chatter, do exhaust you. I experienced that when I was a teacher.

Lee...I saw those chargers on someone's blog..and I thought the same thing..Then when I saw them at Walmart for $3, I couldn't pass them up.

Jay.. I find it amazing that my Gson..likes being with us...I'm sure next year, when he's 13...he won't want to give us the time of the day. So we're really enjoying all we can have, of him for now.

Tammy.. Check out the Walmart website..maybe you can find them online.

Lynn..Thanks for the warning on the chargers. I haven't experienced that yet. I have many white/off white dishes and love to mix and match them in with other pieces..I find they work so well.

Syble..glad I was able to inspire you..what a nice compliment. I would LOVE to see your flatware from Siam..when you do a table. Please!

Luvs..as I told Tammy..check Walmart online, they may have the chargers there. It's sad, DH and I have only sat in that DR a couple of times...many times we say let's eat in here tonight.. and then forget...lol

Luckygal..I like you're thinking...Average the 'Expensive' purchases with ALL the great buys to balance it off!
That does make sense..and would make it easier to accept!
I've got to remember that for the next time...lol

Betty..First off... I'm hoping you and your Dgson are feeling much better. I'm glad to see you posting again and I'm hoping it's because you are.

Those tall candles cost me $1.27 for a box of 6. They came from a place called 'Expect Drugs'..
It's almost like a big Odd Lot, with all sorts of things, even food! I don't go there often..but when I do, they
have such amazing buys. I did the same thing you did with those chargers from Walmart...walked around with them..put them back..went to the register..then went back and took them. I said, what the heck, and put back some other item, to justify getting them!

Kathleen... I'm not ready for Christmas yet either. However, once DH finishes his village, it will give me just enough time to do 'My Thing', and I hate to rush.
Then I have to 'party shop' all the details that go with that too.
Right now, DH & DGson...are fast asleep... whew!

Thanks again everyone..

RE: Fall Table #3

Jane, don't discount the teenaged grandson yet....ours is fifteen and still comes to spend Saturdays with us. I don't think they ever outgrow the enjoyment of being the "star of the show".
Have a great weekend!!

 o
RE: Fall Table #3

Jay...your mouth to 'God's Ears' !!
I'm hoping he'll still enjoy our company..He tells us
he can't imagine not...so that's nice..but they Do change as they grow older.
You're right though... he does enjoy being 'star'...so that's a plus...lol

thanks..

Jane,
As usual, your tablescapes are fabulous! I LOVE those embossed leaf chargers/plates. Where do you find it all?

I also am jealous of your wrap-around porch--always wanted one but it didn't work out with our house design.
