Good Buy on Toureen or Not?

| I ran down to the thrift store today and bought this for $10. Did I pay to much or was it a good deal. Be honest I can take it. It is JCP toureen. I thought I could use it with my Christmas table. Punk

| Oh, yes! That was a great deal for a tureen. I love tureens, and have a small collection started, but I've always paid much more than you paid (except the one DMIL gave me.). It's beautiful! |

| Betty and Tammy, Thanks for the comments. It is in excellent shape and doesn't look like it was ever used. I have some little pinecone candles that match so that will be fun. Gotta start somewhere. Tammy, have I seen your tureens? I'll do some searching so I know what others look like if not white. BTW thanks for the spell check for me.LOL I knew that.haha Punk |

| Luvs and Party Music, Thanks for the comments and we must of been posting at the same time. DD and GD came down for dinner and then we dyed my hair so it was kinda hit and miss here tonight. I thought I would go to JCP site and see if they still carry the Home Collection or if they come out with new ones every year. I also thought maybe someone here would have this set and would know more about the set and what they sold for. Punk |

$10 sounds like a good deal, especially if it's in good shape. Susie's comment about chamber pots made me chuckle remembering a posting I saw once on the GW auction site. They posted for auction this "antique soup tureen". When I clicked on the pic of it, it really WAS a chamber pot!! I emailed them right away to let them know and they immediately changed the listing. But, can you imagine putting that (not yours, Phonegirl, yours is a real soup tureen, but the one that was on GW) on your table, filled with some homemade soup for a company dinner?!? No matter how many times a person could run it through a dishwasher, I could never eat out of a chamber pot! I wonder how many uninformed people actually have :~O

I think $10.00 is a very fair price, it's lovely. It has a lot of different patterns and colors going on. It would look pretty with a Victorian table setting or what ever you choose. I'll be looking for it in your Christmas table post.
