Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1

Hi All..
I've been putting some Fall Tables and Vignettes together
for a couple of weeks now..in anticipation of it getting crazy in my house after Halloween. I'm hosting a Christmas Family Reunion here, which will be the Week after Thanksgiving. This weekend our DGS (12) will be coming to help DH set up his Christmas Village..DH is like a little kid himself and is so excited!
Since this place will be turned 'upside down' and all that's Fall & Thanksgiving, will become Christmas, I wanted to do as much Fall here, as possible, before the transformation!
I'll do this in a couple of posts, so everyone doesn't have to suffer through such a long one.
You might remember these dishes from Last Year. I take them out around this time. I got them at Estate Sales..
They are Furnivals Quail. I paired them up with an under plate from my Liberty Blue Collection.
Of course, I topped them off with the 'Famous' CTS Pumpkin Bowls! lol
The blue stems were from GW 6/$1 each.
In the background, is the Cornucopia I bought last week, from CTS $1.25..I just added the leaves and the fruit.
Another look with different candles...
Here's A Fall Table..with Pumpkin Bowls I picked Up at half price $2.50 ea, at the end of the Season from Stop & Shop!!
My biggest problem is taking pictures without them being 'Fuzzy'.. I'm working on it!
The large plates I bought at a TS for $2 ea..They only had two in that color (mustard)..They had white..but I don't need more white!
The mustard color is off in this picture...
The napkins have cute little corn husks on them. They were from Odd Lot last year 4/$2
Another look at that Cornucoupia..I arranged it differently for this tablesetting.
I hope you're not on overload by now.
I have more Vignettes to share, if your interested.

Jane, I am on overload, that's how I run most of the time. Love everything, especially the blue paired with the pumpkin. I've been jealous of those white pumpkins since I first saw them.I used my Blue Willow last Thanksgiving, just for something different. Your place settings look great, all the versions. I like the white flatware too. Are those acorns glass or real? TFS and sure we want to see more. I wish I could find time to do some table settings just for fun and pix. Syble |

Overloaded? Not on your life! Each and every vignette is wonderful, Jane! I think my favorite is the tablesetting with your blue print dishes. Lovely and very Colonial looking! Using some of your pewter pieces and your (gorgeous) Colonial flatware with them is perfection! Lynn |

Overload is nice when it comes to photos, LOL. I never get enough then. Gosh, I love blue. And I love quail. (and I'm NOT looking on eBay for them!) Blue is such an unexpected Fall color, and it works for some reason. But all your displays are wonderful, as always. You sure know how to add beauty and charm to daily Life. hugs, Karen |

| Hey, my motto is "never too many pics"! Love it all, and I am definitely buying the next cornucopia I see in a YS, or really anywhere. Lovely dishes, I especially like the blue. Both the pewter and the spool candleholders look great in your fall tablescapes. |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1
| | |
| Both settings are lovely, Jane. Your blue/white dishes actually do look like fall with those pretty white pumkin bowls. I love what you added to the cornucopia you found, it looks great. (I see acorns!) LOL In the 2nd one, those spool candle holders look really nice and fit the style of your home so well. Those pretty plates were a good find too. I can tell you are having fun playing with some of your pretties before things get all crazy as the holidays get closer. Good for you. ;o) Luvs |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1

| What a find that blue stemware was for $1 a piece. The pumpkin bowls for $2.50 are another steal. I was waiting for a few things to be marked down and they sold out. I guess that's the risk you take if you wait. I wouldn't want to hurry fall away either, if I had such pretty things, but you'll really have a nice jump on Christmas decorating. - Gail |

| Thank you everyone for looking..happy to know I didn't bore you. Syble.. I bought a Fall mixture of acorns and pinecones from TJMax..all faux. Glad you liked them. My mother always used Blue & White for Thanksgiving and it always seemed special to me. Lynn.... I agree about the B&W with the Pewter being very Colonial. In the next town, is a well known Company called Woodbury Pewter...they make all of their pieces right there, and you can actually watch some of it being made. Around Christmas, it's beautifully decorated (Colonial Christmas) and is always bustling with Tourists from all over. They have the most Fabulous pieces of Colonial Pewter and some are displayed in Vignettes with the Blue & White. You feel like you've stepped back in time. Karen...You sure you don't want to add Quail to your collection...your Hunting Scenes would go perfectly with them!! lol luckygal..I was always sorry that I got rid of my first Cornucopia. It's a simple decoration, that's so classic. When I saw how cheap this one was, I snapped it up. Luvs.. You're right, I thought it would be a good idea to do these tables while not under pressure. I did have fun and it gave me some 'Fall Time' to enjoy before the early Christmas rush here..lol Gail...I know what you mean on waiting to get something then finding it's too late...It's happened to me many times. It's really just timing. Sometimes when I'm not looking at all, there's a 'left over' that no one else wanted and then I feel Yaaaayy! Try not to look so hard... it will find you!! lol jane |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1
| | |
| Oh my, where to start? The blue and white setting is drop dead gorgeous. I love those quail plates! They are so unique. If I was at your house, I think I would try to slip out with a couple of them. Your pewter makes such a nice accent for your dishes. It all looks great, Jane. Oh, and overload? I think not... |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1

| Jane, Fantastic job, girlfriend! Everyone else has said what I feel also. You can post pictures every day if you want. I love to come here and see everyones beautiful creations and I can never say that enough. Punk |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1

Awww thank you Punk... You always say nice things. Hope you got to eat a proper dinner and unwind from your busy day. jane |

| Very nice and FESTIVE! Really says 'Fall' for table! |
Back for another look
| | |
| I always like to look at the photos again to see if I missed anything. The little b/w salt shaker looks like it belongs there with the other blue and white. Looks like it's lid is also pewter. Your candles are all pretty -- but I really like the darker ones with the cornucopia. I spy lots more neat things, but won't mention them all. Your mustard plates look like Sorrento Signature. Whatever they are, the price was a steal! I have blue stems I paid $1 for (at the $ Store) -- somehow they don't look quite as good as your $1 ones. (-: Lee |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1
| | |
| Stunning, Jane! It looks just beautiful! I looked for the cornucopias at CTS..none. I have to do centerpieces for an engagement party on the 13th, and I thought I would use those as the base...but no luck! Thanks for sharing your gorgeous pictures! |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1
| | |
| Jane, I am SO ENJOYING your three posts and would never be overloaded by your lovely pics! Your cornucopia is wonderful and you have filled it splendidly. Love the white pumpkin bowls and quail plate. Those mustard plates are great too. The three pillar candle holders and candles burning look fabulous. DD |

Sly Slinkey, I'm sure I don't want to add quail to my dish stuff no matter how much they appeal to me. But I do think YOU need this. hugs, Karen |

| Oh Karen, that is so funny and it will be fun to see what Jane thinks.haha I headed out to find my cornucopia tonight and turned around and came back empty handed. That shed had more goodies than I need. Both of the kids have alot of goodies in there also. I have an old cook stove that I plan on putting in our home next year. I'm sure I will have to have the legs rechromed first. How's GS and DH doing on the decs? Hope your time with him is wonderful. Punk |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1

Lee...thanks.. Yes, the top on the little S&P is pewter. It was given to me many years ago by a friend, who shared the same love of B&W as I. Also, you're right those plates are Sorrento Signature...thanks for letting me know they were a great deal. Kathleen..sorry you didn't find any Cornucopias at CTS.. They had several in a bin that were all marked down. They would make wonderful centerpieces for your party. Keep looking, I'm sure many stores are featuring them now at a reduced price. Thanks DD...glad you were able to stop in and enjoy my tables. Yours are Always an inspiration. Karen... This was so bad of you to do >> flashing that Ebay find. You know when I saw it, what I did?.. You KNOW WHAT I DID >> ENABLER!! I don't know if I should Thank You or what! I love it... I hope the price doesn't go higher though. We'll see what happens in a couple of days :) Punk... I'm laughing that you went out to find your cornucopia..at first I thought you went OUT shopping for one. That stove sounds wonderful. When you do set it up and rechrome the legs..please post pictures. I'd love to see it. jane |

GRINNING !!!!!!!!!!! and hoping you get it. hugs, Karen |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1
| | |
| Karen...too funny, I guess you enjoy seeing others 'Go Down In Flames' with you!! LOLOL As nice as it is, I'm only biddding on it once and won't go higher if the price goes up. My 2 dishes were less than that! lol jane |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1
| | |
| Jane, It's ok, did you see what Karen bought today? She needs a sidekick to shop with. She has to reassure herself she's not the only shop-a-holic on here.haha I will post a picture of my stove but it probably won't be until next year. I have several antiques that I'm thinking of making our current two garage into a special room and being able to serve meals out there if I'd like. I have a chrome table an chairs that came from the cabin. A trash burner, old wringer washer, old singer sewing machine to name a few items. Sorry I got sidetracked. Be sure and let us know how the auction goes. Punk |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1
| | |
| Jane, I was looking at some of dishes in the set of the blue quail pattern. Boy, its rather pricey for the most part. They are lovely tho. Think it was the coffee or a teapot that ran close to $100? My memory stinks so don't quote me, LOL. Punk, that would be one neat room decorated with those antiques. I hope you can find time to do it in the future. hugs, Karen |
RE: Furnivals Blue Quail

I went and looked...the coffee pot is listed at $179. Gulp!! A single dinner plate is listed for $39. The cup seller where you bid actually has 4 listed in all, each starting at that low price and ending in minutes of each other. (Often sellers will combine shipping just in case you want more than one set. LOL) One other seller has one starting at $10. Aren't I just a fountain of information? LOL. Here's the coffee pot just in case you want to see what it looks like. hugs, Karen |

| Grabbed a few minutes to jump on here. Karen..I saw that Coffee Pot...VERY pricey..and VERY nice...But, No Thank You...In this life time, I'll pass! LOL As you know, once you bid on something at Ebay, they very conveniently send you Emails of things you're 'searching for'....always tempting you to buy more...hehehe They sent me several Furnival Auctions. All very tempting... I don't remember what I actually paid for mine. I've had them for ages, and I know I must have got them for next to nothing. When I bought them..I loved the pattern, and I loved that they were Blue & White. Never knew anything about them. Most of my purchases, were from 'Love At First Sight'. Now with the Internet, I have some idea of what I have. Punk...I'm going to check out what 'Naughty Karen' got now! I don't know about Shopping 'With' her... We most definitely would have to add wings on to our homes to accomodate it all...OR...we'll end up so poor, we'll no longer have a home to put anything in!! That's a nice idea with the room you want to create. Sounds like you have many great things to do it with too. Were those items in your family...or did you find them on your own? I agree with Karen..would love to see when you do it. jane |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1
| | |
| Slinkey, I thought it was neat to find out the Furnival originated in England, in 1913. No wonder its so pricey I guess. One of the best things about checking eBay, besides seeing photos of pretty things, is finding out information and getting idea of value of things you've found or inherited. hugs, Karen |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1
| | |
Karen...this is so true. What would we do now with out having the Internet or Ebay, to make it so easy. My friend used to bring her Antiques & Collectables Book with her when we'd go to Estate Sales or Auctions. She'd whip that book out whenever she'd find something she liked, to see its value! I used to tease her about it, because I would just buy whatever, because I liked it. Then, she would try to educate me, on what I purchased. Most of what I bought, I did pretty good! LOL jane |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1
| | |
| I love that coffee pot and you should have one, Jane. I don't want you to loose your home to have it but it would be worth watching and if the price is right, buy it. I'm sure the three of us would have a blast shopping as long as we all remember to share and no pushing!!! I checked on my dishes and they quit making them in 1922 whick was interesting. The items I will put in my room will be mostly from family and friends. I need to go start dinner so will be back later. Punk |

RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1

| Lee, Don't be sad, honey, we love you and of course we want you too. Wouldn't it be a blast to have a bus and all load up and hit the yard sales and then later the TS? I'll bet the people would have record sales.lol Punk |
Shopping
| | |
| Thank you -- I was worried. (-: That would be fun, Punk. And, have them drive the bus around and we could all sit and visit, too. We would probably all get to laughing and talking so much they would throw us out of the shops. lol Lee |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1
| | |
Okay Punk...next time I 'Hit The Lottery' I'll run and buy one of those Coffee Pots!! Honestly, I try to stay away from 'very tempting', expensive things, that I can do without. Those days, I'm afraid are over... Now, it's fun to look, and it also keeps me out of trouble. Lee, the Bus will pick you up tomorrow at noon... Is that time good for you? LOL That would be a hoot! jane |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1
| | |
| Slinkey, I love your cornucopia. The whole setting is just gorgeous, but the cornucopia just makes it a "WOW" setting. Simply beautiful! |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1
| | |
| Jane, I am ready! I even took a shower for you all, so I will be good, clean company! I will be waiting on the porch in case you get here early. I am with you on cutting down on the tempting things for sale. I like to just browse around; but it is hard to resist sometimes. One of my problems is adjusting to not entertaining anymore. I don't need 12 sets of individual s&p, 8 knife rests, a stack of snack plates, etc. But they sure are pretty. Of course not being able to get out very much helps too. DH is very nice about sitting in the car while I go in the store, and doesn't complain, but I just can't *do* the browsing thing anymore. There isn't a lot of joy sitting in a parking lot waiting on someone, even if you don't complain. I feel too guilty, so I just take care of the essentials. Better for my bank account, too. Waitin' on the bus, Lee |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1
| | |
| Lee, Would of been here sooner but fell off my chair laughing so had to wait till I was done rolling around on the floor. Then I had to GET UP off the floor and back in my chair to post. It's always great to have a clean girl to shop with so TIA for that. Hope you don't have to wait to long to jump on the bus and I also hope the weather is nice on the porch while you wait. You know what it's like waiting for women to get ready! You would be a riot to shop with. I enjoy reading your posts every day. You have a great sense of humor. What a wonderful DH you have to be willing to sit and wait. Mine will do that also but I try to get him to go and play with DGD while DD and I shop. Punk |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1

dream...thank you so much. That Cornucopia was so cheap, that I couldn't pass it up. I had one years ago, that I got rid of, and this was just there 'waiting for me' to take it home!! I like that you can change rhe look, by what you put inside. Lee - Wow, all 'Clean & Spiffy' just for us..that's impressive! I'm imagining that scenario with All of us doing such a thing... Can you imagine what trouble we would get into...lol I'm right along with you on the shopping w/DH. Mine does the same sometmes. It can 'cramp your style' to browse or 'fondle', because even though they don't complain... you know they're out there waiting on you. However, it does keep you in check of running amuck with unnecessary purchases! jane PS...Bus is only a mile away!! lol |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1
| | |
| LOL! It would be fun wouldn't it? Punk, I enjoy coming here so much and always enjoy the banter. It is such a nice escape here at Holidays. Jane, yes, I think we would get in trouble. If nothing else, people probably couldn't stand the laughing and talking we'd all be doing. You girls go take your showers now! I am getting tired of waiting. Lee |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1
| | |
| So...what am I? Chopped liver? LOL. No invitation to the bus trip. Hmmmmmppphhhttt. Guess you think I have shopped enough for this year. LOL. But why do you three need a BUS...oh wait, for all your purchases of course!! Lee and Jane, my DH is same. He'd sit in car and never complain. Or go in, and never complain. But just knowing how much he didn't want to be there cramps my style. I can't enjoy browsing and buying for the guilt trip I send myself on. I want someone to shop with that will laugh and love all the goodies. But even tho I have to go by (buy??) myself, I tend to take all you gals along with me. I can't help but think of each of you when I spy something I think you'd like. And can't wait to get back on here to share my shopping day with you as I know I'll feel good hearing you chat and tease. So, if I talk to you while shopping and if anyone asks, I'll just tell them my Invisible Friends are with me and we're having a good time and not to worry. I don't need the guys in white with the net at the moment. hugs, Karen |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1

That is a gorgeous table! I love the blue with the pewter accents. I'm really beginning to get the bug to collect more colors of transferware. It's such an eyecatcher! I'm jealous of your pumpkin tureens, and 2 kinds to boot! I like the mustard plates, too. It seems I can never get a good find at our GW. You set a very inviting table! |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1

Jane, Love the cornucopia and the blue dishes. I have some Blue Willow from my mom and I have often seen it displayed in fall. Now that I see how great your blue dishes look I'll have to try it. Always, always, your tables are beautiful. - Magpie |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1

| Karen, No way are you chopped LIVER! I've taken my shower and we are enroute to pick you up. The reason we have a bus is so all of the Holiday shoppers will be able to join us on this journey.LOL And we'd probably need it for all our purchases too. Let us know when your ready!!! Lee is tired of WAITING!!! I hope you don't get us in "TROUBLE". We are all just sweet and innocent and should keep it that way. Santa will be watching and I LOVE presents. Punk |
RE: Fall Table & Vignette to Share #1

So, I see that since I've been gone most of the day, you gals have been having Waaaay to much silly fun! Just wanted to let you know... Lee, the Bus pulled up to your porch, but we didn't see you. I don't know if you got tired, from waiting so long, went inside. We waited a minute or two, but you know, the driver is paid by the hour, so we couldn't wait. Punk...We pulled up...and heard some weird shrieks coming from inside your house. I think you were laughing so hard on the floor, that you missed hearing the bus 'Honk' for you...Sorry the driver couldn't wait.. Karen...I don't know what happened you were a 'No Show'...we came by, and your car was gone, so I guess you tried to get some MORE shopping in before we came by.. didn't realize you were that greedy... Sorry we missed you! Well, you didn't miss anything, cause I went to Michael's, and there was NOT one Fall deco left. Nodda..Nothing!! All Christmas now...what a let down. But...they do have the most fantastic Christmas things. Karen I saw your Santa, but no purple one..You must have snagged 'The One And Only' purple they had. It was meant for you!!! cindylouhoo...thanks for the nice compliments. I was always just a Blue & White transferware collector..now, since I've been here, and seeing so many beautiful combinations...I'm like you, wanting different ones too. As far as getting bargains at GW, it's usually a 'Hit or Miss' situation on what I find. The blue glasses..were definitely a 'Hit'!! magpie..thank you too. My mother always used her Blue & White for the Holidays. To me, it seems so natural at Thanksgiving. Glad you like the look. I'm sure, being this is your first year in your new home, you must be excited to get your decorations and tables going. I'm excited for you! jane |
Punk, Karen, and the rest of the bus people--
| | |
| Welllll, I guess we know how *that* turned out. I just don't know what to think. It seems suspicious to me that we were all waiting, yet still missed the bus. You don't suppose Jane didn't want the shopping competition and just went by hereself, do you? Nah, Jane is too nice for that -- wait a minute -- Karen does call her Sly Slinky. But, I still don't think our sweet Jane would do that! I'm disappointed I didn't get to go, and that I wasted my annual shower for nothing. lol Hope you all have a wonderful day! Lee |
