Michaels got me again, LOL

Posted by purplemoon (My Page) on

I went to Michaels to get a picture frame I needed, and them having all their Fall stuff at 70% off got me of course! Outside in the sale bins were the large faux pumpkins and loads of floral. So I got two big white pumpkins, and made my DDIL an arrangement with one. Last year I'd made orange ones for my DD and I. I'm going to make a white for myself now. The Fall garland was really pretty and a lot of variety, so I bought a lot of it. Tho am sharing with DD and DIL.
I also got the lavender Santa to go with the Nutcracker I bought last week! Christmas things are 25% off already, so I couldn't use my coupon afterall. Darn. I'll post a picture of the Santa in another post. Meanwhile, here's the Pumpkin Floral I did for DDIL.

hugs, Karen

Karen,

I love your pumpkin arrangement you made and am so jealous that I live 60 miles away and don't plan on going there this weekend so I can get some good buys.LOL Please post more as you finish them. This is such a neat arrangement you made so it can be used for Halloween and Thanksgiving. Great Job!

I want to see santa so I hope you get him posted soon! I've been excited ever since you posted your PURPLE nutcracker! I don't know if I ever posted about all of your 10 china cabinets, curios, hutches but now I know why you need so many!!! You go girl and don't worry if you get to much you can always send something my way!!!

I had a boss once that was always telling me I was trying to SPEND MY HUSBAND RICH. We laughed about this alot and he was right, I still love to shop. When I can't be shopping it's GREAT to see what others are buying.Yah

I had to have this Santa for my collection. I picked up this little tree there as well. Santa's hat and robe are very pale lavender and sparkly, then have the wonderful silvery grey trim to really set it off.

I found this old, hand-carved rocking Reindeer on eBay and thought he was wonderful. I have a soft spot for old wood things. A lot of detail and work went into this piece. Its approximately 12x12, so fairly nice sized.

Ohhh Karen, I love Santa, the Tree and Reindeer, yes all three. Sorry I can't post any more, it's after midnight and I have to get up early and head to town.LOL Just kidding but I might. I bet that santa is prettier in real life. So happy for you and your new buys.

Christmas is going to be beautiful at your home for sure. Punk

Karen,

I like the white pumpkin, and really like the arrangement you made for DDIL. It looks professionally made.

Your Santa is just wonderful; the colors are so soft. You will have to pick out a very special place to showcase him. It is a good thing my closest Michael's is 100+ miles away, or he would come home with me.

I like the little open-work tree, too. I am thinking how nice something like that would look on a porch. Your reindeer will be a great decorating accessory... I can just see him in a vignette.

Keep those pictures coming. You have so many nice pieces. I like seeing them showcased like this when you bring them home. You could also do that with some of the things in your curios, hint, hint.

Oh, I love all your great finds! I think the carved reindeer is especially wonderful! What a great find!

Purple is such a unique color. It looks gorgeous on that Santa!

Our Michael's sold out of all the faux pumpkins a few weeks ago when they were 60% off. I missed out on getting some for floral decs. Lucky you to have found them.

Karen,

If you don't mind, what is the approximate height of your Santa? He is magnificent!

RE: Michaels got me again, LOL

love all your goodies esp the grapevine tree - very rustic and would look great on my woodland porch. I managed to snag an 8" lighted jack-o-latern at Walmart yesterday for $1.50. The whole bin was full of black garish looking ones except for one lone cute orange one calling to me to take him home. I love this time of year when you gals start showing all your holiday stash :) .....

Karen, your Pumpkin Floral arrangement is just lovely.
It looks very elegant, and I love how you tied the bow.
I agree that it looks very professional.
Your DDIL..will love it.

I'm laughing about your purchases at Michael's..it seems you went there to Buy A Frame...

Which led you to the Bins out Front, where you bought the Pumpkins..

Which led you to Florals that you Needed to put in the Pumpkins..

Which led you to ALL the Garland on sale...and they most definitely, were 'Must Haves' too...
Now, since you were there...you had your coupon..

Which led you to that Santa that you were lusting for..

Which then led you to that Little Tree... that was another 'Must Have'... to go with that Santa!!!

Girl...I love your Shopping Strategy!!
but let me ask...Did You Buy That Frame?!! LOL

I'm so glad you got that Santa, even though you couldn't use your coupon. He's wonderful and perfect for you. Of course the little tree to go with him, fits perfectly with him..
You have so many great decorations and I'll be looking forward to see how you set them up.

I must say, that Reindeer is so unique. That was a great find. Lucky you!

Well, Karen, you single handedly are keeping the economy rolling, I see! LOL

Beautiful arrangement, now don't tell us you can't do tablescapes if you can make an arrangement like that!!!!

Lavender santa is very different, I can see why you wanted him and the rocking horse is great too.

I 2nd what all the other gals have said--and I'm glad Jane asked about the frame--I was wondering about that too! LOL

I can see why you loved that Santa, he is gorgeous!

Love the shape of your white pumpkin and you really did a nice arrangement in it--very professional looking with that combination of greenery and flowers and the pretty bow.

Wonderful wooden reindeer find too, he is really a special find. Know you will have fun decorating with all your new treasures.

Most of all, I'm glad you were able to get out and do a bit of shopping.

I 3rd what everyone has said! Beautiful fall arrangement - your DDIL is lucky to have a MIL like you.

Love your Santa, the color is very pretty. The tree and reindeer will be great for vignettes also. Great finds.

IKWYM about Michaels' sales - a couple years ago I got a bunch of stuff at 90% off - and it was well before Halloween! Only regret is I should have bot more! I'm just lucky that Michaels is almost 150 miles away and I only get there every couple of months.

RE: Michaels got me again, LOL

Lee, the Santa is 16" high to the top of his head, 18" to the top of the cap before it tilts. They had gorgeous angels that matched him. (the purple Nutcrackers were gone already, glad I got mine right away last week.)
I saw a lot of the 'bark' decor last year. Trees and deer and such, but never bought any. This little tree just got me for some reason this time tho. The cut-outs on it are bark ones, so its very rustic. Looks real good by my old wood Reindeer too!

Thank you so much for the comments on the floral I made Suz.
I literally just cut a hole in the pumpkin, stuck in a tall grass thing, and two daisy ones, then just tied a regular bow using wired ribbon. Took me less than 10 min.

Yes Ladies, I got my frame. I needed a fairly big one and I was so thrilled all the frames were 50% off. It came to just $20 then. Except the darn cashier rang up all the other stuff and my frame ended up costing me $120 instead.
Do I get 'points' for buying a bunch of garland for my two girls? It was such a good buy, ranged between $10 and $20 regular price, and all at 70% off. And their joy when I delivered it to them last night was priceless to me!
Here's the 3 types I bought. I got each of us one berry garland, one with the little gold leaves, and then 3 each of the big color leaf garland.

I also have another good excuse. Michaels is 8 minutes from me! So is Goodwill. Dollar Tree (and Ross) are 5 min.
How the heck am I suppose to resist stopping by? Tho for someone mostly housebound, I seem to be on a roll at the moment. LOL.

hugs, Karen

RE: Michaels got me again, LOL

Roll on, Karen, Roll on!

I made a little tabletop arrangement last year with purples and teal. (Which is funny, as I am not much of a teal person.)
I am trying to resist, but I did call Michaels and they have it.

If I had those stores that close, I would be a regular, too.

Those prices you got on the garlands are unbelievable!

Oh Karen...I'm getting tempted, from looking at your Garland purchases! What a great buy.
I'm thinking of maybe stopping off on the way back from taking DGson home tomorrow. DH wants to go to Home Depot, and Michael's is right there! :)

RE: Michaels got me again, LOL

I'm glad to enable...errr, help you ladies all I can.
Jane, you definitely don't want to pass up the sales on this garland. My Michaels sure had a lot even tho its been on sale almost 2 wks. The big white and orange pumpkins filled a huge bin out front. And tons of the florals. I can't believe folks hadn't snapped more of this up. Almost all the Halloween goodies are gone, and little Fall knickknacks tho. I love garland (and picks) and figure one can never have too many of them. I only buy them when they are greatly reduced on sales tho.

hugs, Karen

RE: Michaels got me again, LOL

Karen, I can't believe you MADE that pumpkin/floral arrangement, it is beautiful! I think I remember you posting earlier about one you made for yourself that you have in a hallway (am I right?) and it was gorgeous as well! That Santa was made for you, with the lavender colour! Those garlands are fantastic too. I don't get to Michaels very often as it is 2 1/2 hours from here but when I do, I don't know what to look at first - that store is dangerous for a small-town-girl!
