I don't like any of it particularly. I buy whatever's cheapest at Target, then vacuum it away. Lots of bloggers use sea salt or baking soda. I would never use those directly on my furniture, of course.

Pink I sure you could use quilt batting which is available where fabric is sold.

Will check out the quilt batting, Nana. Thanks. Have also read that epsom salt is quite usable. Has anyone tried this? Would imagine the clean-up is a mess.

I've always bought the snow blankets or rolls at Michaels, and when I've set up my village I like to sprinkle the sparkly stuff that makes it look like snowflakes shining. Can't remember name of it but comes in a small bag by the snow stuff. But boy, it gets everywhere no matter how careful you are!! I swear, even all this time later, I occasionally see a little teeny sparkly on the carpet near the cabinet where I had my Village. LOL. I think I pretty much decided the mess may not be worth it. That includes spray snow, Epson salts, etc. But darn, it sure does look pretty. My DD's mother-in-law uses white sheets under her village and some of her other displays. She has a way of bunching it in areas, and having pieces of styrofoam or boxes under it for elevation, and it sure looks good as "snow" I think. And NO mess!

I also saw a neat idea the other day where a person used white lace doilies or tablerunners. (you can find them in thrift shops easily). She had some under her Village and it was surprising how much it gave the snow effect on ground.
