neat idea for candleholders

If any of you decorate for a summery beach look, or heck, any time....I thought this was a neat idea for those cheap glass candleholders you see at Goodwill and thrift shops.

Elmers Glue and Food Coloring = Beach Glass, who knew!

oooo! those are pretttty!
If it worked as well as it appears, that would be the ideal answer for those glass accents in certain colors that we all want/need from time to time and just can't find.
Though I'm in the middle of one project now, I have glue/coloring & spare glass on hand so this is definatly going on my list.

Sweet idea! They look beautiful...
Reminds me of a frosted glass vase I had years ago.
Punk...I'm thinking like you - to give it a try on glass vases and see how they would turn out.

Those are really pretty and I think they would make great vases as well.

I wonder what the ratio of glue to color? Trial and error?

Kathleen : You're right , trial and error - apparently.
I tried it and it didn't come out ANYthing like the picture :(.
The concept worked but mine turned out waaay darker than they should have been for the "look" intended.
I'm soaking the glue off now and plan to try it again.
I'm thinking if I use an eyedropper and water down the glue ever so slightly , it'll work better.

I went back to find instructions and this is what the gal had commented when asked...

"I used Elmer's Glue poured into a cup and then added small amounts of Wilton's Food Coloring until I liked the color Then I used a soft paint brush . It's amazing after it dries it really dries transparent."

This obviously wouldn't be waterproof or hold up outside in the sun, only for decorative, indoor glass items.
